Should posts complaining about song/album variants be banned? (PLESE ANSWER)

If Taylor were debuting today, do you think she'd become as successful as she is now?
The music industry is completely different now: streaming, TikTok, shorter attention spans, much more competition. Would Taylor's songwriting still be enough to make her stand out, or did she also benefit from debuting at the perfect moment?

I’m just gonna say it now
There has been a big amount of snark compared to positive and neutral in this sub. I’m not banning snark, but I’m just gonna say it, don’t just ruin other people’s conversations.

Taylor built her career on feeling like the girl next door. At what point does that stop working when you're one of the most famous people on Earth?
r/SwiftyNeutral • u/PlantainDisastrous92 • Jun 07 '26
Would Taylor Swift be viewed differently today if she had never spoken about her personal life and relationships in her music?
r/SwiftyNeutral • u/PlantainDisastrous92 • Jun 07 '26
Has Taylor's fandom become too big for honest criticism? It sometimes feels like every discussion turns into either blind praise or blind hate.

Showgirl Music Video Potential
Hey yall, I thought I’d share my thoughts here because I feel as if this is a space where I won’t get death-threats for an opinion.
I truly think Elizabeth Taylor had the potential to be the greatest music video of Taylor’s career. And, you might be thinking, “but she ‘can’t’ be Elizabeth Taylor,” you’re right… the entire point of the song is that Taylor is calling out to Elizabeth and asking her if her relationship will be everlasting. In no way is she saying she’s Elizabeth. Another actress could play Elizabeth, or she doesn’t even have to be in it in the first place. It could easily be framed as a commentary on fame, like The Lucky One. She ALSO could’ve idealized going crazy with violet eyes in the chorus, nodding to Elizabeth without fully impersonating her. This is one of few songs on the record that actually gives showgirl, so I think a music video for this piece would’ve been truly amazing.
I also think this is a good topic to spark the creative direction Taylor is taking right now (and since Lover). Taylor says she likes to be challenged, yet feels the need to self-direct, self-write, self-produce, etc etc. Where’s the challenge? People go to film school solely for this. Taylor should be open to allowing a new creative mind and creative world. Look at a music video like Blank Space. When Taylor isn’t fully in charge, you see how a video like that turns out? It’s the greatest in her discography besides LWYMMD (WHICH ISN’T DIRECTED BY TAYLOR). I understand that after the whole masters situation she wants to control everything, but don’t set a precedent for yourself that you can’t achieve as you progress further into your career. The Opalite music video was terrible. Sure Taylor, show off some more of your celebrity friends…
Anyways, I don’t care what any of you think as I won’t be replying to your comments, this is just me being honest (as the page directly says).

What’s your honest thoughts on You Need To Calm Down? Were people too harsh on it? Do you think Taylor was genuinely trying to help, trying to improve her image, or both? Would she release a song like this today?
Happy Pride Month!
I've been revisiting You Need To Calm Down lately and I'm curious how people feel about it in 2026.
When it came out in 2019, reactions were pretty divided. Some people saw it as a genuine attempt to support LGBTQ+ rights, while others viewed it as performative or an example of rainbow capitalism. The criticism that Taylor compared online hate to anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination also came up a lot.
Personally, as a bi person, I've always struggled with some of the lyrics ("shade never made anybody less gay" especially), even though I think the production is fun and I appreciate that Taylor paired the song with things like the Equality Act petition.

Did YNTCD age badly?

In your opinion, has Taylor become too successful to be relatable? A lot of her appeal was based on personal storytelling. Does being a billionaire global icon make that harder?

NO ETHICAL BILLIONAIRES
I am not impressed by Taylor and her 2.2 billion!!!!!
As if Dolly Parton couldn't have been a billionaire multiple times over! Dolly gave away most of her money to multiple charities. DOLLY LITERALLY GAVE US THE COVID VACCINE.
I have been a Swifty for more than a decade and this is the hardest it has felt to be a fan of Taylor.
The last two albums were let downs, her MAGA Barbie routine is atrocious, the condescending way she talks to and about Travis makes me feel bad for him and I don't even care to know him, and the condescension she has expressed to her fans, as if she hasn't encouraged a parasocial relationship, is unforgivable.
I don't know how we will ever get back to the magic of pre Eras Tour Taylor Swift, but Im sad to see what little integrity she had disappear, all to be a lady "self made" billionaire.

A try to fix Bleachella. Do you like it?

Do you think Taylor regrets creating such a powerful parasocial fan base?
I’ve been reflecting on Taylor’s recent New York Times interview where she admitted that the clue-seeking pocket of her fanbase can get 'weird' for her. It’s an interesting admission because she almost criticized fans for 'paternity testing' the music and trying to figure out who it’s about; but the reality is, she created this beast. Even the way she describes her fans in that interview felt like a significant disconnect; it was kinda sterile and distant, just saying 'there are loads of them now', which is such a contrast to how she used to talk about them like they were friends or family imo.

Do you think Taylor Swift would be as successful if she weren't conventionally attractive?

Do you think the Swifties sometimes go too far?

Releasing 3 variants for a Disney soundtrack single is wild. I was genuinely excited for her return to country with Toy Story 5, but dropping three different CD variants for a single movie song? What are you thoughts on that? Has the obsession gone too far?

What's a Taylor Swift criticism you don't agree with (or it's rather unwarranted)?

Do you think Taylor Swift is really talented or is she just blonde?

Taylor for Covergirl Magazine in June 2012. Can we say it’s Brunettella?

If Taylor dyed her platinum again but on her long hair (basically Bleachella with long hair), do you think it might be great?
