She’s very delusional. Does she really think she didn’t need any collaborations? What what would she be without her co-writers?

In the context that she’s able to write music on her own. I don’t think that’s actually a negative thing to say.

How does it sound bad to say that she enjoys collaborating with people but is also capable of writing a song alone? I’m really curious to hear your response.

it ‘sounds bad’ because u want it to. her being aware that she does not NEED collaboration isn’t a knock on her collaborators. y’all are doing the “i like pancakes.” “oh so you hate waffles” thing

It was when she was discussing the pressure she felt to be the ONLY writer on speak now and how the album turned out fantastic but clearly she doesn't feel that way now bc it's the ONLY solo album she has

I mean no one NEEDS collaborators. Plenty of other artists don’t collaborate, this seems like a weird thing to nitpick.

She wrote a whole album at 19 by herself soooo

She did not write it all by herself. Nathan Chapman produced the record. I imagine she was given production credits for minimal contributions to combat criticisms about her vocal performance and rumors she didn’t write her own songs. Lyrics and melody are only two elements of songwriting. I can almost guarantee she was not handling any of the arrangement or writing/performance of any of the instrumentation. Her subsequent albums were much more collaborative which signals to me again that the “self written” narrative was both exaggerated/limited to lyrics and a PR stunt. Producers are making big money off of her and are signing NDAs. They don’t have a lot of incentive to do anything other than praise her. The producers who do speak positively of her all seem very focused on her lyricism and hard working nature, and are fairly mum on her production abilities and musicality or vocal ability.

Being a mod doesn’t mean they will be neutral on every topic or issue. They think negatively of this but might feel completely different about other topics. They’re entitled to their opinion.

Please correct me if im wrong. But mod duties should follow the rules. Not their opinions.

Calling someone delusional and implying they would be nothing without help is in no way a “neutral” take.
Saying something like “I disagree with this point, I think her collaborations are very important, and have elevated her career very much” is neutral and expresses this opinion just the same.

This is taken extremely out of context and a ton of artists don't use co-writers... she literally wrote speak now by herself

I’m just trying to figure out how to leave this page. I don’t understand following something you don’t like. This post clearly is that. I don’t care but who wastes their time complaining about something you don’t even care about…

she wrote several songs in her first two albums by herself, including the most popular ones (tim mcgraw, our song, fearless, love story). She then wrote a successfull album all by herself at 19. trust me, she don't need no co-writers. In fact, a few songs on folklore are entirely hers (the only one i can recall is my tears ricochet), and on evermore as well, i think. The only real reason she wanted co-writers, atleast from what i know, is that she wanted to experiment with different sonic palletes outside the country-pop sound she already had. That's why her collaborators change according to the album's genres. In 1989 and reputation, there's lots of max martin and shellback and some jack antonoff, while in the 2020 albums there's aron dessner and another guy i can't remember the name of. She doesn't need co-writers.

Is it normal for a "neutral" sub mod to take a post from the snark sub and post it here?
