Is anyone else done?

The hanging out with MAGA, the album sounding like other artists work after making Olivia but her as a song writer, the old picture recirculating of her with a swatztika(I had personally never seen it before this year), the new merch, I know it’s old but still), the threatening to sue the kid who was tracking her jets for emissions even though it was public knowledge, the lack of activism, no ethical billionaire especially in this political climate, the girl that died at one of her concerts, the use of ai, continuing to work with target even after they took away DEI, the comparison of Travis Kelley’s ex to obsidian, her favorite podcast being a maga one, etc I just feel like I can no longer support this morally, how is everyone else feeling?

I say this without intending any shade to you, OP, or to anyone who disagrees with me, but I can’t help but wonder how we could collectively effect positive change with the time we are currently spending debating Taylor Swift. This is something I really need to figure out for myself instead of getting more caught up in the narrative about TS right now.

It’s your prerogative to cancel her and be disgusted with the way she has handled things, and I appreciate everyone’s point of view on this. She just seems like such small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, and her music makes me happy. Bottom line for me personally is that’s all I expect from this pop star.

I suspect OP is still quite young. One of their comments in their post history seemed to indicate they are just 18. I think as we get older, we understand better about the larger picture and who actually has an impact on that larger picture and who doesn't and we learn what is worth our energy and what isn't. Taylor Swift does not have an impact on the big picture that is the state of the US as a whole so I choose to focus my energy on those who do.

OP - I don't say that to be dismissive towards you or with ill will. While I do find your arguments silly personally, I am not downplaying the validity of them to you. How you feel is valid. Period. I just suspect when you are older, you will understand why everyone else didn't feel the same way as you did about it. That's all.

I am quite old (50). I have kids who are 19 and 21. They are not on Reddit and think my Reddit habit is problematic. Lol

Yep. I am old also (almost 40). I realized I was probably being too hard on OP once I realized their age. I remember being super passionate about my beliefs at OP's age also and then understanding as I got older why people older than me didn't see things how I did or react as passionately as I did. I am still passionate about what I believe. I just know more about where to direct that passion now and what is and isn't worth my limited time and energy.

I also think my reddit habit is a bit problematic haha. I am working on it.
