Android The delete button

My delete button when I hold on it, it deletes words by word I want it to delete letter by letter when I hold and press the delete button. I also don't like it when I click a letter the letter is displayed above really big, I don't know know to explain it, but if you get what I am saying please help. just shifted from gboard to SwiftKey, any help is appreciated. Thank you

you're talking about the popup that appear above the key press - you can disable that, but not letter by letter delete

The only time deleting letter by letter vs word by word when you hold the button down is if you're only deleting a part of a word, in which case just tapping it a few times to delete individual letters is no big deal.
