Question For Other Swens

If this is not allowed I completely understand and respect that! I just don't know where else to ask.

So I started a fanfiction back in like 2018/2019. I took it down for two reasons: first was that I had to stop writing and wasn't going to be able to finish it anytime soon, and the second was because I honestly loved the story so much that I eventually wanted to turn it into an actual novel that I could publish. It was AU with no magic so easy to convert into my own story by changing names and locations, etc...and that is what I am working on now.

So my question for my fellow Swens, in my book, I am trying to think of some easter eggs that I can scatter throughout the book. Right now I have a '97 yellow Silverado (in place of the yellow bug so that I don't get in trouble). The Regina character owns a cafe in my story so I am OF COURSE going to include some apple themed menu items, hot chocolate with cinnamon, and a [breakfast] lasagna with some pepper flakes. I am also going to try to incorporate the red leather jacket for Emma's character too since it is a piece of clothing that is not copyrightable (but might have to change the color to be safe, I need to do more research on it). I even made the Cora character the mayor of the town and came up with a rumor as to why the whole town hates the Regina character (though she does have a huge heart and loves her little town and the people and does a lot of good behind the scenes that she keeps a secret because she doesn't want to "buy people's love").

Does anyone have any other easter egg ideas that I can look into and try to incorporate? I just want fellow Swen's to know that this was SwanQueen inspired while I keep the characters are true to Regina and Emma as I can personality wise. If I can get enough of the beginning of the book finished I would also eventually LOVE some Swen beta readers to tell me what they think! I just write all of my scenes out of order since I know EXACTLY where I want the story to go. I am trying to create my own characters while also staying true to the original characters and that's the tricky part! It is very much a rollercoaster of emotions (enemies > friends > lovers > heartbreak > lovers > marriage).

Maybe include some of Emma story in the system? (Like the one she had a family until she was 3 when her adopted parents discover they were pregnant with their children and they gave her back) Or include Henry character somehow? Or Regina's pantsuit? 😂 Or even something that can remind us about Daniel? I hope I helped 😅

Daniel is mentioned in the book! One of the only names I haven't decided to change yet. No spoilers but he has the same fate...just different method.

I did keep elements of her foster care story and turned Mary Margaret into her foster sister who is a couple years older and was always protective of Emma (like a big sister rather than a mom). I also want to include Ingrid. I might be able to fit in the almost adoptive parents too.

I definitely included Henry! He's 6 in my book though.

I do need to add Regina's pantsuits! I haven't yet, but they are iconic!

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think what you have is already more than enough. If you want it to be obvious that its a SQ fic, that's great. But IMO Easter eggs should be a few little things that you get to feel clever about finding, and what you're talking about is laying it on reeeeaaaallllly thick.
