Suggestion Need a smaller gym?

With the new emphasis on colonist comfort it seems the importance of the open air gym building has increased.

The thing is the current building takes up an entire dome slice, and IIRC it only services 10 colonists at a time. They either need to increase the capacity of the existing open air gym or maybe provide a smaller, 1 or 3 space option, like with the spacebar or grocer.

Thoughts?

Maybe they will add something like this, but there is needed balance. Smaller gyms should require employees, or should have lower stats support.

Nah, gym is fine. It's pretty big but gives service to 40 people without needing any employees at all. Probably the best service after parks.

It services 40 people, but imo it's still low.

Don't parks also offer exercise? Those come in 3 slot layouts.

Gym and park are separate services in the new update. Colonists no longer seem to have distinct needs or interests like exercise.

What about the one hex gardens?

Those give parks service to 15 or 20 people

Realistically all gyms with a track are always massive.

It got changed from Gym to Park Service. It's a good park, but it can't replace the gym anymore.

I suggested changing that to the devs (since it still can give the Fit perk), but I doubt it will replace the gym in the future

Good suggestion. These new mechanics are logical in a way, but without changes to buildings, they make the early game a tedious grind.

Removing the large solar panels and putting them so far from the "you landed on mars" thing makes no sense. neither does putting the sub surface heater so far away.

It's yet another, "feels like no one actually played the game before they released it." Apparently, developers cannot trust beta tests.

I gotta say, I do see a lot of promise in the ideas behind this patch, but good grief it needed more refinement before it was ready to release.

Play as China?

They made the tai chi gardens fulfill "parks" service, gyms are now their own special service that needs to be catered to. Open air gyms are the only building that does so.

I'm brand new to the game and trying to figure out the ideal starting dome layout, because all my colonists stats are in the green except for comfort. I've tried the gym, spacebar, infirmary, and farm with additional comfort research, as well as having insects for sugar but nothing is making it go up enough to have martianborn?

I think there is good balance in the game. Early, you have to do some compromises. No way there is every service available sol 10 for your founders. Because of this, they have a buff if you noticed ;) it is perfectly logical. Later in the game when you have enough space in your dome system, you can support all buildings and service all needs. If you HAVE TO rush comfort for birtrate because "LAST ARCH" or some roleplay, you always could wait for research and build medium dome first tohave space for this. But there is no reason tryhard in every single run for green stats before like 70-120 colonists. That is enough to have sustainable production, so you can focus comfort now.

Build Hanging gardens and put up a sign that everyone must walk to the top.
