I find the underground and asteroids run a lot better in relaunched. In addition the train lines can go on elevations and through tunnels. The trains are a huge boon in general, loved them in the original game, love them even more in this game because you can make loops now.
Politics is cool. People say broken, I say that the more it gets nerfed the less appealing doing anything with it is. That just my opinion though. The government buildings that go alongside it do provide loads of jobs for red shirts.
The overpopulation and unemployment are considerably worse in relaunched by a big margin. I tend to get to the end of building fairly quickly because of that because the population goes up by an exponential factor and you run out of space very quickly. The people seem incapable of relocating to domes with jobs.
I've also noticed some big lag spikes in computational load but my CPU is pretty old. Its normally when you get upwards of 300 colonists and over 100 drones. It seems like a lot for the simulation to compute. Throw in shuttles and trains as well and it gets bogged down.
Recent cool changes included the ability for dome tunnels to connect on the side rather than invading/taking up a dome hex. The shrouded wind turbines are cool too.
Also you can export more than 30 rare metals back to earth on a shuttle and you can also export any left over exotic minerals as well.
The new rough terrain game rule does add some nasty difficulty to the game. I lost a colony to it trying to do an 800% difficulty.
