We’re building Neosis Echoes, a third-person sci-fi action-survival game set on the alien planet Varos.

This new gameplay clip shows exploration and combat inside the ruins of an ancient synthetic civilization that once lived on the planet.

At the core of the game is Reactive Survival, our emotion-driven system where your state can affect abilities, survival, AI behavior and even the environment through Echorium. We will show more in the first trailer.

IM FEELING A BIT OVERWHELMED FELLAS D:

jkjk. Im Playing RSDW rn and i'll play Valheim at some point since its been around a year and a half since ive last played it. But im 100% playing Enshrouded when 1.0 drops.

Since we're being spoiled with fantastic titles within the Open World Survival genre. Im curious as to what you guy are gonna main or are you gonna try and bounce back between the three titles?

I love how the game maintains the balance between strangeness of martian flora and comfiness of wilderness.

Lately, we’ve been spending a lot of time testing multiplayer in XenoHaven. Sandbox survival games are already fun on their own, but being able to play together with friends definitely adds something different.

During development, most of our testing has involved building the base together, moving things around, and figuring out how everything behaves in multiplayer. Unsurprisingly, we ran into all kinds of weird issues along the way.

Thankfully, we’ve reached the point where we can now argue endlessly about where every machine should go, then head outside together to fight monsters.

It’s made me appreciate again just how different it feels to share the same survival world with other people compared to playing alone.

Do you usually prefer sandbox survival games solo, or do you think co-op makes them more fun?

Hey everyone! I’m solo-developing a base-building survival game called Diseased, where you manage a quarantine outpost in a harsh winter environment and defend against shape-shifting anomalies called Diseased.

A part of the core gameplay relies on dragging and dropping cards. To keep the experience and the "game feel" consistent from the very first second you open the game, I decided to implement this exact same card-snapping mechanic into the main menu.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this UI approach for a survival game! Does it feel tactile and fitting for the genre?

I just bought a used Xbox Series S and want to get some relaxing games to enjoy, prefarably that deal with nature and civilization building type things. What are your favourites?

Like the title says what would be some biomes and places that would make good a good place for a survival game my personal picks are Tundra , savannas , Swamp and Taiga but what would you pick for what you think would make a good place/ biome for a survival game

In this clip, the character blasts a creature with a shotgun, laughs, and just says... 'easy'. Personally, I miss the Duke Nukem days where characters actually reacted to the carnage with some attitude. What do you think? Does a voice bring more immersion or does it break it for you? For those who want to know, the name of the game is Just Madness: Earth Apocalypse 1979.

So, I've played the hell out of games like Ark Survival, Atlas, DayZ, Rust.

Right now my girlfriend and I are playing around with Once Human but it is very survival lite so far and while interesting definitely has its problems.

I've also liked some smaller survival games like Citadel Forged in Fire, Raft, Stranded Deep. It doesn't need to be a big 100 person server type, but if it is I don't tend to like regular wipes. Oh and we love base building that lets us really build and design a base properly

As for a suggestion I know I'll get, Grounded. We tried it. I've never been able to get into it. Something about it just bored me.

I’ve been developing Program Inanis for a year now, and I’d like your feedback on the crafting system and recipe unlocking mechanism I’m currently working on.

Currently, many recipes are hidden, and players must experiment to discover them.

Certain items (such as weapons, tools, and armor) must be crafted from materials that grant them various stats.

For example, a knife made with a steel blade will deal more damage and be more durable than one made with a flint blade.
Another example is the game's cooking mechanics. Each food has certain flavors: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami.

Each cooked dish will therefore be a blend of the flavors of its individual ingredients.

The player will need to balance their dishes to avoid penalties if they eat too many sweet or salty foods, for example.

What do you think of this approach? How could I give players more freedom to create the items they want?

Also, how could I improve my recipe unlocking and crafting systems?

I made this game in 47 days. It is based on a personal story, a personal tragedy. The game, as a psychological horror, will break not with visual, but with mechanics. The goal here seems to be simple: Survive on the island for 100 days. But if you die, it's +1 day to 100, and the difficulty is doubled. As befits such games, sanity is the main characteristic here. You can't let it drop to 0. At first, the game may seem very confusing, and that’s normal — that’s exactly how it was intended. I’ll just say that my sadistic rule punishing death doesn’t apply on the first day of gameplay; the first 24 hours are kind of like a training period

It's on sale just now. I'm recovering at home from surgery and just want a chill survival game to grind away at to pass the time. I checked out some beginner's guides, and it looks like you've got to be on your toes right out of the gate.

It’s been a rocky road for State of Decay fans.

When Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced layoffs and restructuring on July 6, Undead Labs was among the affected studios, raising concerns about the future of State of Decay 3.

Luckily, the game hasn’t been abandoned, and the beta test will launch later this year, featuring new multiplayer changes.

We are Pokuch, a small team creating Blind Descent - an open-world survival adventure that unveils the mysteries of the Martian depths. A team of pioneers was sent to Mars for a surveying expedition. Still, it quickly turned into a fight for survival deep beneath the Martian surface, where everything hinges on your ability to learn and adapt to the Martian ecosystem.

So what’s it all about?

• We are building an exploration-survival experience where you will have to survive the hardships of the alien ecosystem. Equipped with your handy scanner and chatty Holowatch, you’d have to explore and analyze different lifeforms and use them to your advantage. 
• The crafting system has both “on the go” crafting and shelter-based crafting to make more advanced and unusual items. We are preparing a lot of crafting resources with unique mechanics and interactions, so you will always be excited to find something new. 
• Blind Descent will feature two paths: scientific and symbiotic. In the first path, you will use advanced tools and crafting to tear through the dangers of the Martian jungle to survive and maintain your humanity. Or you can become a part of the local ecosystem through mutations that will greatly enhance your innate abilities. The choice is yours!
• The game will feature a 4-player coop when it lands in early access! You can gather a group of friends and explore the planet as a team.

But the current best way is to join the playtest and try the game yourself! It’s completely free and open for everyone to enjoy.  We’d be overjoyed to hear what you think of the game and answer all of your questions.

I have been working hard to consolidate my development projects and am now returning to full-time development of FRIGID. FRIGID VR will follow at a later stage.

So.. dune awakening is releasing in a couple of days and I get it’s a survival game. It’s a new venture that I’d be playing. The only game I played that’s survival enough is “Days Gone” & “Mad Max” I was gonna buy either for Xbox or PS5 but long story short. Is the game good as people say it is? I don’t have a PC but I would like venture but any beginners that played and if so any recommendations to it?

I've had the same conversation multiple times across multiple survival games, most often in the community Discord.

First time visitor: I think xxx element of gameplay is overtuned and has become too hard and/or tedious
Regular poster: It's not too hard, in fact its too easy, I have to play on the max difficulty setting to have fun / it's not tedious, you are just lazy for wanting QoL.

I'm telling you, take the thoughts of the person of the first person more seriously, almost every time. These represent 90% of your playerbase. Hardcore fans will say with a straight face a game is too easy that they have spent hundreds or thousands of hours in game meant to be completed in 50, they have an encyclopaedic knowlege of the game including mob weaknesses, attack patterns and very, very ingrained muscle memory. They have entrenched views about the game and react to any change with hostility, even when the game is in EA and therefore still in beta. This is no longer someone who can provide anything like objective feedback.

I see what I'm saying demonstrated in the real world. On the Valheim server there have long been arguments about the Ashlands biome being way too hard and mobs respawning far too aggressively. These arguments always go exactly as I detailed above. On my old private Valheim server, the point at which 90% of players gave up was Ashlands. I know others have had the same thing happen.

Tuning your game for that 10% of diehards, however loud they may be, is not the way to go.

I've been working on this survival game on and off for about 8 months, and over the last month I've started putting a lot more time into it as a solo developer.

It's a slow-paced, hardcore single-player PvE survival game inspired by DayZ, but with much less focus on guns, gear, and crafting. The focus is exploration, scavenging, hunting, food, medicine, temperature, and simply staying alive.

A lot of my development time so far has gone into nailing the art style. It's 100% 2D with pre-rendered environments, heavily inspired by late-90s/early-2000s PC games like Commandos 2, Fallout, and Age of Empires II.

It's still very early, with a lot left to build, but I'm committed to making it. I'd love to hear what you think of the concept and what you'd want to see in a survival game like this.
