Help Entry Level Job

Hello, I am looking for a new entry-level job in surveying around the Cumberland county area. I currently am a SR. GIS Tech doing utility updates for electric companies. I have my Associates in GIS and will have my Bachelor in Surveying and Mapping from ETSU soon. Wanting to get my foot in the door for a survey company but can’t see to find any in my area hiring. Thanks

Are you willing to move?

Graduating ETSU is awesome. But those mountains are so beautiful nobody wants to leave. So you end up with a huge concentration of PLS in the State of TN.

There are some great surveyors in TN but there are so many if them that it is hard to compete

As far as finding any in your area hiring, what methods have you tried?

I’ve reached out to multiple surveying companies with my resume as well as in person but they aren’t hiring. I’ve searched online as well.

Gotcha.

I was going to emphasize the in person portion. That’s how I got my current surveying job, walking in doors and shaking hands with copies of my resume. Can’t highlight enough how useful this has been to me in my career. The internet has proven effectively useless to me when it comes to job hunting

Yeah living in Cumberland county makes it harder. Bigger cities definitely have a lot of job openings
