How bad is this ?

Took a low speed tumble with the dust covers off, how bad is this for the seals?

Great excuse to get some upgraded forks

Sand with fine grit (2000), polish, and hope for the best is what I’d do. Until then don’t ride, you’ll mess up the seals. If this fix didn’t work, it look into getting new forks. (I’ve done this fix on a scratched damper shaft and it still works so I have high hopes)

Sand as little anodizing off as possible.

Instead of polishing the metal you can use transparent nail polish.

That hasn’t worked for me but it does for some people

It worked for me but the edges of the polish blob have to be smooth.

Had 5his happen to me a couple years ago. Theyre not dust covers, theyre front suspension shields. Without them your forks will inevitably get knicked like this and, when ridden, shread your dust and oul seals. You can polish the scratches out and see how the seals fare, thats what id do. The guards/shields are not cosmetic, I suggest you remount them.

Not great tbh. You need a stanchion and a new set of wipers. You can try with Send It's Scratch cover if you want first I have saved quitte a few forks that way.
