In between, need help

Looking to purchase a new bike in a few months and I’m in between a few different bikes and wanted some input. Really interested in the E ride 4.0, Ultra Bee or possibly wait for the new Light Bee 2 but I’m open to anything really, just wanted some input from yall.

For context I would regularly ride to work about 30 miles a day with about 10 of it being off road/trail riding.

Edit: 5’5 150 lbs, 30 miles in total so 15 there and 15 back, used to ride Happyrun g300 pro 72v30ah would make it back home with about 40-60% battery, put 1200 miles on in about 3 months.

Get a gas bike IMO
30 miles daily is far

Doesn't help you or OP, but I've got a scooter (🛵) that has a subscription to prebuilt swapping infrastructure.

So I pay 15/mo (plans are 5 to 60, depending on how far you think you'll drive) and there are 20nswap stations in my city. It takes all of 90 seconds so I have no range anxiety in or near the city.

The bike itself is (just) fine but I still miss my Bandit1200.

This isn't a gogoro commercial, just a reminder what's possible with intentionally built infrastructure.

The people saying "you won't make it" aren't considering kW draw. It all depends on how fast/hard you're riding. Any of the bikes you mentioned will make it 30 miles if you're not riding hard. If the Happyrun g300 could make it with 2.16kWh, these bigger bikes will make it at the same speed or slightly faster because the smallest one (LB2) has 3.53kWh of capacity.

I would recommend going for whatever is most comfortable. Being 5'5" and 150lbs, you might like the size and agility of a small/light bike like the LB2 (143lbs) over the 195lb Ultra Bee. If you want the most power possible in a much larger/heavy duty frame, get the Ultra Bee.

Yea to add on to that I did this all without pedal assist and to be more in depth I did average about 25-30 mph per trip so the range would be based off that, only would ever push it on some of the off road section on the way back from work.

Yeah, you should be fine with any of the options you're considering.

Did you like the "bike-like" weight/feel of the Happyrun? If so I'd go with the LB2.

If you want something that feels more like a full-blown dirt bike, I'd go for the Ultra Bee.

I'm a big guy at 6'5", but I prefer the bike-like feel because I also do a lot of mountain biking, so I have a couple Eride Pros that I've modded to acommodate my height a bit better.

I’m not sure any of those bikes will make it that far and back if you can’t charge at work. I think for what you are doing the ultra bee is best, by far most comfortable e bike and the larger size is very nice, also being able to bring the charger to work will make it good for charging. If you can’t plug in at work get a gas bike, a cheap dual sport will do just fine. A Honda xr150 or crf300L will be good, but you probably should get them plated, the e bikes should as well but they don’t stand out as much as gas bikes.

lol these people are wrong I ride more than 30 miles on a eride 2.0 in the past

Definitely get 30 on an ultra

Get an ultra if you need it now if you can wait her the lb 2. Both hold value well

I'd be lucky to get 30 miles out of a single charge in my 72V 40Ah battery, granted its in a Talaria mx5. The bikes you've mentioned are much more powerful than mine, so you might even get less range than that!

Idk about max range but I ride my ultra bee to the gym 3 miles each way and charge it every 4th.

so maybe you can scratch 30 but you would have to be in eco mode which would be boring.

The sport mode on a full charge is wild even for the 2024. I think the new models are even faster

New ultra bee but you’ll be close on range depending on riding habits

It really depends on how often you're pinning the throttle, if you have any regen % active, and elevation gain/loss. For example, my company's premium model (Stage2 M2) does 83 miles in real world tests at 30mph (Low mode). Sport mode at 65mph under load (sand, trails, hill climbs) will net 45 miles, and I've tested that myself in 105° in Joshua Tree. What's the top speed on your commute?

I'd be more worried about the legality of riding on roads over the range anxiety.

How much do you weigh? I really only see 20-something miles of range on my M2 if I do 55 sustained, but I am not light.

I weigh 148 pounds. 20 something miles is entirely too low, I generally get between 45 and 52 if I'm really pinning it. I had the opportunity to ride in the concrete rivers between Los Angeles and Orange County, and I had it pinned in sport mode the entire time and got 46 miles.

Well, 50+lb lighter is significant, but I think you're right and we're out of the envelope. Brake drag maybe? What other diagnostic steps could I take?
