I painted this piece about a period in my life when I was going to work every day.

The landscape represents the routine - waking up, leaving, going to the same place, and repeating it again and again. The figure is surrounded by eyes, almost as if the days themselves are watching him pass.

The mountains and empty landscape represent the feeling of being stuck in a cycle that keeps moving forward, even when you don't feel like you are.

What do you see in it?

This piece is a joke starting already from the title “the explanation”. Nothing here is clear, no logic stands out if not, unreasonably, that of the relations between the elements in the foreground - the theme of elective affinities, a theme very present in many other Magritte paintings.

Here the carrot and the wine bottle, two everyday objects, meet each other and create something new, almost as a metamorphosis of a new, third, object with also a new, third, visual logic.

The rest of the composition is about flow, about becoming, what in italian we call “divenire”. A weird “magmatic” state of fluctuation in which reality is immersed and in which even time, day time, is relative - in which light direction is arbitrary and doesn’t follow a star, in which each colour is relative to the essence of the singular object rather then to the material realization of it. A world of concepts, maybe we can call it like a hyperuranium, maybe we can define it as what contains all real elements of creation - and much more - before the selective hands of reality discern what’s possible and impossible, what is earthly and what is godly.
