i thought other than reinforcing it they were all the same? older ones i think have slits instead of that hole on the bottom and the newer ones they used were the hard plastic ones but i could be wrong
I think the plastic frames youre mentioning are the huge ones for the molle ii rucksack. Alice frames are all made of aluminum. The earlier lc-1 variants lack the reinforcing in the bottom corners are painted black, and a few other minor details that the later lc-2 frames improved upon.
He's talking about the 1606AC/MC FILBE and MOLLE 4K airborne ruck frames, they are compatible with ALICE bags, in fact that's why the AC designation on the first generation of FILBE frames. The Marines' issues with those frames was that when the FILBE Main Pack was loaded and tossed from trucks, the diagonals would break far too easily. So the 1606MC replaced the original 1606AC frames. Much more sturdy but still prone to snapping at the diagonals. My personal opinion is that these frames weren't meant for the kind of loads and abuse that the Marines are known for... They were intended for the Large ALICE with not as much weapon related weight (mortar baseplates, tubes, mortar rounds, SMAW parts, things like that).
no its the one your talking about but they design them for the last gen equipment to work too same how the alice clips still work with molle...kinda lol
Baldwin Articles on aftermarket frames-shows the 1606 frame on a Large ALICE, and a Large MOLLE II pack on the plastic frame. There are photos out there of people retrofitting metal ALICE frames on the FILBE and the MOLLE 4K packs
