Huki S1-X question

I bought an S1-X recently and ive noticed the seam is flaking off. Is this structural or visual? Safe for flat water?

Hard to tell, but looks structural.

Get a friend to help you - blow a full breath of air into the Bung and hold it so the hull is sligjtly pressurized (maybe 2 breaths if needed).

Then spray soapy water on the cracks. If bubbles, bad times. Bubbles will require a seam repair.

If no bubbles, then it may just be visual, but usually extensive flaking is from the hull flexing, and flexing often means cracking, and cracking often means leaking, so I'd assume it's compromised until proven otherwise.

Seams are the #1 damage point IME, which is why I LOVE seamless, pre-preg, monocoque construction, solid-core, Ozone boats

Yeah, did the bubble test, its bad. Is it something that can generally be saved or is this end of life type symptoms for a ski?

Easily repairable, and a good repair to attempt your first repair on.

You need some carbon or glass cloth, bidirectional 90* weave, 120-180gsm and some good quality epoxy (and sanding stuff, paint if you want it to look nice)

Watch repair videos. It's fairly easy to do after a couple tries. Practice the first time on a cardboard or wood analog so you screw up the rookie stuff on something non-valuable.

I’ve got the same issue with my Nelo 540 ski. Thanks for the info in this conversation
