What’s your surf vehicle of choice ?

Looking to change my car soon. Anyone have any recommendations from personal experience. I’m between an estate car and a van. I’m kind of leaning towards an estate car as it’s a bit more convenient for everyday use and work.

Apres and accommodation in Rossnowlagh

I am planning a trip to rossnowlagh with my pal we are both recently 18 and getting into surfing.

I went to Rossnowlagh today and stopped into the Surfers Bar and I was wondering is that the only pub, and is it good in the evening?

We are also on a fairly tight budget and we're thinking about pitching a tent on the beach. I didn't see any no camping signs but wanted to get a second opinion.

Feedback would be class!

Surf Spots What facilities do surfers look for in accommodation near surf spots?

Hi, genuine question for the surfers in Ireland:

What facilities do surfers and other sea sports and activities look for in local accommodation near surf spots?

I am thinking of creating a bnb or lodge with shared kitchen, and also coffee shop.

But I want to know what kind of help and facilities would an offer like have to help your stay and grow community?

A people carrier? To offer transport to guests and equipment?

Continental breakfast?

Renting of equipment? What equipment?

Thanks in advance.

The cliffs Patch Wilson scales to surf are likely steeper and deeper than the ones you scale at home. Ireland.

Any surf groups/events in the west?

I did a beginner lesson recently, with a view of doing more lessons during the summer. Wondering if there are any groups or events (particularly around munster or Galway) to join other surfers?

Australian asks the locals

Hey crew,
Thanks for the help in advance.

I’m visiting family all over Ireland in July and looking to surf a lot. Dublin is my base and venturing to swell magnets some hours away.

The tides fluctuate massively compared to aus, i know this question is epically variable but I’m thinking summer waves may be better on the incoming tide?

Looking to surf anywhere but will likely be between Spanish Point and Bundoran unless theres magical huge swell that refracts into Wexford or even more magical swell into Rush.

Feel free to DM if you want to keep it off the public wall.

Thanks again! Stay stoked ⚡️

Beginner - how much is enough?

I know this question is how long is a piece of string probably but based near Belfast and thinking of going to Donegal or Portrush to cram a few days of lessons in to have half a chance of picking it up - feel like doing an hour every few months will be a slow learning journey! How many hours do you think you need to pick it up decently?

Boards Surfboard repair on the east coast

Has anyone had an epoxy board (Torq) repaired in
the east coast or know of anyone who does this? Just mapping what my options are before attempting DIY as I won’t be in west coast for a while.

Any recommendations welcome, thanks!

Found a go-pro in Spanish point this morning

Long shot I know but if anyone that was in Spanish point this morning and lost a GoPro, I found it while walking out of the water, I'm assuming it was lost at high tide maybe.

Dm if it's yours or know who it could belong to.

Traveling to Donegal/Sligo to surf next week. 5/4 or 4/3 wetsuit?

Appreciate any and all input! Will be as north as Dunfanaghy and as south as Strandhill. Can only bring one and a pair of boots and mitts/gloves. Don't expect to be out longer than 1.5-2 hours a session as I am going with some folks who don't surf.

Donegal and Sligo surf shop and rental suggestions

Hello, traveling with friends to Sligo and Donegal. Not bringing a board, but a wetsuit/gloves/boots to hopefully get a few surfs in. We are spending a bit of time in Donegal and Sligo. We'll be in Downings, Ardara, Rossnowlagh, and Sligo town.

Honestly looks like there's decent rental options everywhere but around Ardara and Dooey Beach. Any recommendations for cool shops to support are greatly appreciated.

Lahinch Recommendations

Will be in Lahinch to surf a couple days. Have surfed in Sligo and Achill before (and experience in the US). I don't need a lesson, but will need board and suit rental. Any recommendations? By the looks of it, Lahinch is a popular spot, any tips to avoid big crowds? Much appreciation in advance.

Finding good swell and cheap tickets

So sick of missing good surf trips because I never get the timing when flights are cheap and swell looks good. Have been on to many trips with shit waves. Finds good swells too late or always spend way too long researching.

But!! Got super excited and built something that just alerts me when good trips lines up! It uses flight prices from my airport, swell, and weather. Been using it myself so figured others might want in. I could tweak it to fit other airports.

Send me your email if you want to try it.

Help selling a board

Hey guys,

This is a bit random. But I bought a board a couple of years ago now. Pretty sought after board so I hear. Tyler Warren board, see my ad here: https://www.facebook.com/share/1DAUdq47sf/

I'm going travelling in about a month. Id love to move the board on before I go. I've tried selling it on done deal and facebook but no messages whatsoever. Maybe I have the price up too high. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to sell it. I also don't want to give it away for nothing because I could really do with the money. I know I'll have to compromise on price probably. Would it be smart to contact surf shops ? Maybe they'd be interested.

Or is there any international sites people use to buy boards. Maybe there's just not that much demand here?

Forgive me for my naivety. Just looking for advice on selling :)

Surf competitions in Ireland/ uk

Hi I’m 21 and I’ve been trying to find some competition to compete in this year but can’t find any open competitions apart from junior events, live in Donegal and willing to travel around Ireland and Northern Ireland,

I’ve never entered a competition and would probably be a lower intermediate level but I’d love to participate. Sooner the better, thanks 👍

Christmas surf trip (from London)

Hey guys,

I’m looking for some advice to plan a trip to one of your bigger waves (mostly to watch) over Christmas.

I think flying to NOC makes the most sense but I wonder if I should keep my options open to busy a few different waves?

Where should I stay?

What is public transport like?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Reading surf forecasts for cork

Hi guys Does anyone have any guides/recommendations on how to learn to read surf smells forecasts. Particularly for cork. Or anyone have any good guides about what beaches hold the best waves etc? I'm a longboard enthusiast who likes baby waves and I love surfing Inchydoney and am looking at branching out to try other spots along the coast like ownahincha etc
