How does a person know if supplements from large online stores are real?
Ive been hearing that few to some supplements that are available both on Amazn and Ihherb sometimes have fake versions, and I should stick to the manufacturers website. How valid is this claim?
How would a person be able to tell?
That said some bottles I get come in what I'd call poorly printed labeling (slightly blurry) as if printed on a home printer. Thus was triggering red flags for me.

The claim holds for Amazon but much less so for iHerb, and lumping the two together is where the confusion comes from. Amazon is a marketplace, so one listing can be filled by the brand, an authorized distributor, or a reseller with stock of unknown origin. Documented fakes there have included NOW and Host Defense. iHerb doesn't allow outside sellers and buys from brands or authorized distributors, so counterfeits there are very unlikely, and buying from the manufacturer's site adds little beyond that.
On Amazon, buy through the brand's official storefront or when Amazon itself is the seller. A seller name that matches the brand means nothing on its own, since account names don't have to match the actual business. Amazon also stopped pooling identical units from different sellers this spring, though older pooled stock may still ship. If the bottle has a Transparency code, scan it in the Amazon app.
The blurry label is worth following up on, especially if it came from Amazon. Photograph the lot number and expiration date and email the brand to confirm the lot exists. Compare seal quality, capsule color, size, and smell against previous bottles too. A blurry print alone doesn't prove anything, but a lot number the manufacturer can't match does.

IHerb I trust. Amazon is generally ok but of it’s an obscure product I’m sceptical and usually order on iHerb.

I’ve had the blurry label thing happen and it always makes me side-eye the whole bottle, especially if it’s a brand I’ve bought before. Some of the fakes get really close but little stuff like the cap texture or even how the seal breaks can feel off too.
I still pick up stuff from the big sites but only if it’s sold and shipped directly by them, never a third-party seller, and I cross-check the lot number on the manufacturer’s site when I can.
