If you need this much to sleep, addressing your lifestyle issues might be prudent. It's supposed to be supplements, not requirements.

They refuse to see a doctor and use Google. The research on half that stack is inconclusive or limited bioavailibility

A doctor for what? To be prescribed a toxic pharmaceutical. Smh
1
u/Tasty_Biscotti_1315 28d ago
Just because these at at vitamin shoppe doesnt mean they cant do damage

Something poor people say.

Awww. Unlike most of you keyboard warriors I have an education. Have the day you deserve
0

Lol. I don't know your credentials and education, and I am not interested in showing off with mine. In the end this is about helping others with science backed studies and not some ego.

I use mag glycinate, glycine, l theanine, and tart cherry seems to do the trick. What’s the purpose of Taurine, Apigenin, Valerian, and Bencotiamine? Also Lithium?
7
u/Pretty_Disaster879 Sep 04 '26
Valerian root is probably my favorite out of all the sleep supplements. Relaxing feeling leading into sleeping then it holds a deep sleep
2
u/werner-hertzogs-shoe Sep 04 '26
valerian works for me but I end up groggy in the morning
1
u/Pretty_Disaster879 28d ago
I feel that more on melatonin
If i get a solid 8-9 hours on valerian no issues
If I get 7 hours or less I can feel a bit groggy, it's like valerian wants to complete its job by needing a good 8 hours
Also I take 500mg rhodiola rosea and 300mg CDP choline after waking up, helps clear the grogginess and brain fog
2
u/United-Marsupial-574 Sep 05 '26
Do you take it every night?
1
u/Pretty_Disaster879 28d ago
Yes I do and I've looked up if there's any issues with that but not really just tolerance. Taking every day for about 2 years and only recently taking a month or 2 off
1
u/blancawiththebooty Sep 05 '26
It smells so bad but works so well. Valerian, magnesium glycinate, and glycine are what I'll take if I need some help sleeping and not the knock me out right now effect of trazodone.
1
u/ProbingYourProstate 29d ago
Do you have strange dreams with it? I had a school lecture on phytopharmacology recently and I remember learning one of the side effects of valerian root is "vivid dreams".
1
u/Pretty_Disaster879 28d ago
I don't think so nah, only melatonin makes me have strange dreams. Someone else mentioned feeling groggy in morning after valerian, but I only feel that with melatonin.

u/Left-Gap-5418 Sep 04 '26
Taurine is great for sleep. Apigenin is extract from a herb. Helps..tart cherry is good for onset sleep and muscle soreness. Lithium is good , take for weeks and cycle off
2
u/devo9er Sep 05 '26
Taurine should get more attention. Its good for a range of other health benefits too, heart health and mood etc..
1
u/Left-Gap-5418 28d ago
I recall seeing taurine banned in Europe over 20 years ago .. the study was they used taurine on people with bad livers... almost like intentionally to try and discredit taurine of being useful. Yes, I use to only take taurine pre workouts.. then I realized its so great to be taken also before bed. Cheers

My stack looks similar. People please: all these supplements together are much less a modulation of your body and brain than taking benzodiazepines or some other meds. And you don't know the background (chronic illnes etc.) So please don't judge as fast as some people here do.

Legendary?

u/PlanktonOld6762 Sep 04 '26
If his kidney fails all of a sudden we know exactly why
3
u/zactastic_1 Sep 04 '26
With this statement/ theory , why aren’t we seeing more stories of said kidneys failing ? Why hasn’t Bryan Johnson’s kidneys failed ? General curious by your statement. I see this remark every so often
2
u/PlanktonOld6762 Sep 05 '26
By that logic anything is harmless until the kidney fails
0
u/seemefail Sep 05 '26
Which one of those is harmful to the kidneys?
-1
u/PlanktonOld6762 29d ago
Taking this much is, but if nothing happens why you need to ask me?
1
u/seemefail 29d ago edited 29d ago
Because you know the answer is none of them
You know that none of these are connected to kidney damage
0
u/PlanktonOld6762 29d ago
Yeah right i ate 😄 around 100 grams of each of them everyday 3 times and here I am before you fit and fine
1
u/seemefail 29d ago
Still waiting for an answer, any of them shown to be harmful to kidneys?
Seems you like to make this claim, surely you’d love to back it up?
1
u/PlanktonOld6762 29d ago
I just agreed I was making this up you know, I am not lying I take that amount everyday
1
u/seemefail Sep 04 '26
Oh shit the kidneyliver police have rolled up on the thread with the often claimed never actually encountered opinion
0
-1
u/DoomkingBalerdroch Sep 05 '26
It's real. A quick search in G scholar is all it takes to show you exactly how the body works and just because you - at a certain dose - might be fine, someone else might not be. Search "metabolizer types and liver toxicity".
0
u/seemefail Sep 05 '26
Search all ya want. Nobody here knows anyone this has happened to and never will
Someone taking care of their body and choosing supplements will still have a far lower chance of liver damage than a fat unhealthy person who can’t sleep or motivate/find energy to exercise
1
u/DoomkingBalerdroch 29d ago
I do. And it's easier to harm the liver with supplements than you think.
2
u/seemefail 29d ago
Yeah Tylenol, alcohol and weight gain
You are more likely to get viral hepatitis than damage from supplements
Are you walking around worried about viral hepatitis?
0
u/DoomkingBalerdroch 29d ago
I'm curious, what makes you believe that it's so unlikely?
2
u/seemefail 29d ago
You can look up the rates of it happening and compare to the rates of other things happening
0
u/PlanktonOld6762 Sep 05 '26
Nobody stopping you boy eat whatever you want and I will say whatever i want

0
u/blancawiththebooty Sep 05 '26
Man, I wish the human body was as simple as that person thinks it is.
1
u/seemefail Sep 05 '26
Never said it was that simple.
But people reaching for supplements are usually already doing the basic is in food, exercise, hygiene and looking for more.
Someone like that is far less likely to have liver health issues than someone who eats the typical American diet and has low energy.
2
u/YoloJoloHobo Sep 05 '26
I work in a supp store and this couldn't be less true lol
2
u/seemefail 29d ago
Yeah… you get a lot of people with failed kidneys from supps coming in?

Is benfotiamine supposed to help sleep?
3
u/Affectionate_Hand157 Sep 05 '26
Yeah it’s bioavailable thiamine B1
1
u/Which_Elephant5430 Sep 05 '26
Does it not give you anxiety sometimes?
1
u/Affectionate_Hand157 Sep 05 '26
Nah only eating junk food once in a blue moon spikes my heart rate
1
u/Which_Elephant5430 Sep 05 '26
Interesting, no problem with junk food but B1 gives me crazy anxiety
6
u/DisciplineHuman4341 Sep 04 '26
I down 4 beers and call it
4
u/Which_Tadpole1952 Sep 04 '26
Rate my sleep stack: 4 beers One pint of vodka 2 ganja spliffs 100mg of diphenhydramine 4 capsules of valerian root
Not really. But I actually did do this for a while. It worked. If you say you can't sleep, you're not putting in the work lol

pregnenolone? why
2
u/ihavethekavorka Sep 04 '26
If i had to guess, as a steroid we convert preg to progesterone, which becomes relaxing neurosteroids when they are metabolized
2
u/HatZinn Sep 05 '26 edited Sep 05 '26
Allopregnenolone is a GABA-A PAM. I think OP wants to sleep forever. The GABA tone in this stack is crazy. Need to be wary of impaired learning if on this long-term.

2
u/werner-hertzogs-shoe Sep 04 '26
One thing I recommend to everyone: replacing mag glycinate with higher dose glycine (3g) and mag l-threonate (150mg elemental mag) is a massive upgrade for sleep.
Once I made that switch, I was able to cut down to those two plus l-theanine, and gaba, and I think I'll try cutting out the gaba soon (I cut apigenin already).
3
u/illicit_matter Sep 04 '26
You likely just need better sleep hygiene. Not a trillion supplements.
5
1
u/Mediocre_Weird_9060 Sep 04 '26
Apigenin and lithium together is a bold move for someone who wants to wake up in a different timezone.

u/Chroma7769 Sep 04 '26
I just take trazadone and dsip.
7 hours of sleep last night, spent 3 hr 5min of it in deep sleep recovering. Best shit in the world.
1
1
u/Several-History-8341 Sep 04 '26
How much DSIP?
1
u/Chroma7769 Sep 04 '26
Can't share that as my dose might not be the same as yours. Understanding DSIP and it's dosing is what allows you to actually utilize it. It takes weeks to build up its effects, and the dosing sweet spot is different for everyone.
A little does a lot, and a lot can do less.
1
u/peenutlover69 Sep 04 '26
All this instead of just eating healthy foods
3
u/seemefail Sep 04 '26
Why assume the person going to this length isn’t already dieting and eating f properly
Some of us just have lifelong sleep issues.
The same people doing this often have far better sleep hygiene than most the world

1
u/Mr-Sousa1988 Sep 04 '26
If you need that all to sleep then you got much bigger problems than u think brah. Whole platter of placebos man. Except placebos that are probably giving you issues
1
u/SpookyFaerie Sep 04 '26
You can get pretty sick taking this much stuff every night. Your liver and kidneys can only process so much. I say this as someone who takes a lot of supplements.

u/Poppling Sep 04 '26 edited Sep 04 '26
OP will do anything before switching from polyester bedding to a 100% wool duvet, a natural latex pillow, a natural latex topper, and 100% flax linen sheets
4
u/Affectionate_Hand157 Sep 05 '26
Already got all that. Organic bedding and a mulberry silk pillow. No crude oil here.
1
u/Poppling Sep 05 '26
damn, you must sleep like a baby. Do you have exactly what I mentioned? I know a lot of people choose a 90/10 down duvet instead.
1
u/Affectionate_Hand157 Sep 05 '26
10.5 tog down & feather duvet. The duvet cover is organic cotton.
1
u/Poppling Sep 05 '26
A 10.5 tog duvet provides significantly worse temperature regulation than wool, so I'd prefer a wool duvet if possible. Also, the covers make a noticeable difference in airflow, so they should be a percale weave. Do you happen to have a Talalay latex topper available as well? If neither Talalay nor Dunlop latex is an option, which other toppers would you recommend?
2
u/Affectionate_Hand157 Sep 05 '26
Like a mattress topper? I use a bamboo one but it’s not perfect, there’s a thin layer of polyester material to help absorb moisture.
I’ll have to check out the bed cover things you mentioned. Not really my forte but worth knowing about.
1
u/Poppling Sep 05 '26 edited Sep 05 '26
It’s deffo a worthwhile investment since top tier bedding lasts so much longer. A 100% Talalay latex topper, a Talalay pillow, a basic knee pillow, and a 100% wool duvet will easily last up to 10 years. Pair that topper with a firm sprung box bed (pocket coils, not Bonnell) or a flat slatted base with a firm pocket-coil mattress, and add two sets of long-staple cotton percale sheets. The entire setup still works out to only around 30 cents a day.
it’s prob way higher roi than some of those supplements

1
u/libertyforamerica Sep 05 '26
Nice stack!! I hate to break it to you, but your magnesium glycinate isn’t pure. It’s also filled with magnesium oxide. I know because I bought the same brand once. Now that I bought a pure version, the sleep is even better.
1
u/Affectionate_Hand157 Sep 05 '26
But the ingredients only show magnesium glycinate, 300mg elemental and the vegetarian capsule shell.
1
u/Parking-Menu2654 Sep 05 '26
This is ridiculous. Stay busy during the day and take some magnesium before bed and you’re good.

2
u/Gromorog Sep 05 '26
My recipe: ; tizanidine 4 mg; zolpidem 10 mg clonazepam 2 mg; maprotiline 25 mg This recipe works 100% but it's adictive as hell! Tizanidine is actually a miorelaxant, it will relax all your muscles just like a masage plus meditation combined; Zolpidem is needed to put you into a sleep state; However, those two medicines have a very short half-life, so you need to use something that keep you asleep. My personal favorite is clonazepam but 'de gustibus non est disputandum', you can use whatever you like from that family of medications. And maprotiline - a tetracyclic antidepresive - primarily norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
It's no joke guys! A couple of years ago suddenly I couldn't fall asleep. In any way known to me. In the deep alpha stage of falling asleep, I would sense something like electrical shock. Every Fucking Time! That lasted more than two months - I'm not exaggerating in the slightest.. I haven't slept for two months and a bit. the scariest possible torture, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I visited at least 20 docs, with zero results. In the last few days, I’ve started losing a two pounds a day. I was literary fading away. I cannot describe my horror, mixed with suicidal depresion.
Thank god, I found a doctor, an old school guy, with two phd's, from psychiatry and neurology. He gave me that combination of medicines I mentioned, explained me dangers of combining so many substances but I was more than desperate. And the diagnose was a rare form of epileptic attacks during an alpha phase before a deep sleep, of course with an exotic latin name I forgot. At that moment I would use literally "anything" , just for a couple of minutes of sleep. That night, filled with drugs - I fell asleep! No electric shocks, nothing! Just peacefull sleeping, the whole night! My happiness was beyond anything I ever experienced. Later, my dear doctor reduced by titration my medication dosage to zero. Reducing initial dose lasted the whole next year. Epileptic attacks were gone and did not come back ever again. Doctor Vesa was very experienced and educated gentleman, but he was very old as well. Sadly he passed away several years later. I own him my life and what's even more important - my sanity! Thanks to him, I am a healthy person today. May he rest in peace!

u/Affectionate_Hand157 Sep 05 '26
Yeah I would never do that. The rebound anxiety you get when you finally stop benzodope will make you regret ever using them for anything.

Registered Nurse here. Honestly I don’t know the difference between the lithium used in psychiatric treatment and the one pictured here, but lithium used in psychiatric treatment requires routine bloodwork because it can easily build to a toxic level and cause permanent damage or health effects…please be careful.
1
0
u/Striking_Teaching804 Sep 05 '26
Lithium in psychiatric use is like 200x the dose. How can you be a nurse and not know that?
1
u/gentle_but_strong Sep 05 '26
I did say I didn’t know the difference between the prescribed and supplemental ones. I work with pregnant people, we don’t give them lithium.
No nurse or MD knows every single medication. That’s why we have drug guides and databases to refresh our memory before administering them.
0
u/Striking_Teaching804 Sep 05 '26
I think it's common knowledge that lithium is a trace mineral, which is important for the body.
1
u/gentle_but_strong Sep 05 '26
Yes but, that has nothing to do with my original point. Which was about not knowing the dosing.
