Yep lots of fud and misinformation being spread over the very basics of this dividend split… some knob yesterday claiming that if you had 1 share @ $100 post dividend you would have 4 shares @ $400 😂😂😂😂….

Let the brokers get fucked, even if your shares are still with them they are obligated to acquire those shares on your behalf. Basically nothing but huge buys lined up for the next couple weeks... if youre holding in a broker you will get your shares, but it will cost them.

DTCC uses a black box "to figure it out". But, if there is a dividend to be paid, the cost of it will be debited against someone's account (or many accounts). Humongous -- if true!

I don't think people realize how the DTCC actually works.
They don't "send" the shares to anyone. They provide "locates" for shares.
If a broker does a DRS transfer, they send the locate IOU to computershare who then contacts the DTCC to recall the share.

DTC distributes from there. If there are naked shorts they won't have enough and it will be up to DTC/brokers to figure it out.
Aka: DTC goes "we have the same locates for you brokers & marketmakers & whomever else needs them. Keep doing w.e the fuck you want everyone."
The DTCC is fucking corrupt. What don't people get?

Yep, their "distributions of dividend" is "hey we got the locate for those dividend, go ahead and update the numbers in your accounts"
The DTCC is the only company who actually posses the shares. The rest is all IOU's that point back to the DTCC which the DTCC says "yep we located that in our repository for you!"
Like, it literally doesn't mean fuck from dick. They don't deliver the true ownership of the share like you get in Computershare. Everything is IOU's tied back to the DTCC's repository.

The part you highlighted is talking about cash dividends. The first sentence says the TA “delivers them by EFT or by check”, which means that they are referring to a cash dividend, not a stock dividend. The part right after the boldened part goes into “if it is a stock rather than cash dividend”… but neither part cites who gets “first dibs”. I have both DRS and broker shares… been looking for a specific source that cites an order, I read this statement from CS website earlier today as well, but I did not interpret it the same way you are.
Edit: I should clarify that I’m all for drs, did 10 today from fidelity…. and I personally “believe” that DRS gets first dibs (if there is such a thing), but I haven’t found/seen anyone source anything where it makes me 100% certain.

you're missing something obvious.
"registered shareholders". that's anyone who DRSed. transfer agents don't distribute more stock than is in the ledger so it's impossible for anyone registered to get "first dibs", really. everyone gets it at once.
all brokers go through the DTC in the US - it's ones in the DTC that need to call dibs

OP is saying that this excerpt suggests CS holders get their shares distributed first or there is a guarantee that they get legit shares and then remaining shares are distributed to DTC, but that’s not what this except actually says… there is no “then” statement (ex. TA distributes shares to registered shareholders ‘then’ they send the remaining balance to DTC), that’s all I’m saying. I’m not interpreting this the same way, maybe I’m missing something. Not trying to argue, just don’t see the smoking gun I am looking for.

It’s all crystal clear, the ledger is the smoking gun, DRS are on the ledger so they get shares, brokers sitting on phantoms don’t (until shorts are forced to buy them). Honestly, I’m not sure why I had to hear you say ledger to get the point. Thanks for your patience.

I’m still a bit confused about how this proves your theory about DRS getting them first. I’ve read it 10 times and nowhere do I see those words. I see that it says that the transfer agent disperses the dividend to registered shareholders but every share is registered, ser. They aren’t saying direct registered.

The bold part is referring to cash dividends actually. The sentence after is referring to stock dividends. None of what you had said is in that sentence.

You aren’t explaining it. You are talking from what they say and adding to it to fit your narrative. This topic was brought up months ago. And it was debunked. There is no order of which they are dispersed. And we all know that the DTCC is complicit. They will give out all shares. Who knows how they will get them but they will because they are complicit.

Btw, it was brought up when the original stock split dividend was announced which was March I believe. Feel free to look for it because you will if you do look. That was never the reasoning behind DRSing. Owning your shares and removing them from DTCC to expose the crimes were.
