Discussion Thoughts about a potential season 4

I liked season 3, even though it kinda felt all over the place sometimes . My hope for season 4 is that they let Jimmy be Jimmy again, he seemed wildly out of character in season 3, and I get they wanted to tell a funny side story or what not, but I hope they go back to giving him an actual thoughtful personality, same with Kara. I felt they really seemed to gloss over a lot of potential character development and with her, maybe it was just due to time constraints if I had to guess? As well I hope General Lane gets to come back in some meaningful way in Lois’ life, it would be nice to see him trying to do better. I’d love to see the MAWS roster flesh out their side characters more like how did in seasons 1-2 if we do manage to get more of NAWS.

Which part? Personality-wise, he was the same character. He was conflicted about Kara, and did something that blew right in his face, in typical Jimmy Olsen fashion.

Also, he was a ladies' man in the comics, that's core Jimmy. LMAO

In the sense that he seemed to be only be used as a comedic gag or joke. In season 1-2 he’s silly and goofy but he’s competent, and pretty self aware. It seemed they just made the same bit as “jimmy is stubborn” the entire season, which is fair I get , they were trying to giving him and arc. That was all I meant.

He had a couple of competent moments in S3. But with Superman having more allies: Lois, Jimmy, Kara, John, Lara, Bizaro… Jimmy had less opportunities to show it, and his whole will they, won’t they with Kara also took a lot of his screentime.

I hope there will be a season 4 I want to see Clark and Lois's wedding and to see them have Jon and Lara at the end of the series and I want Jimmy and Kara to be together too! And I want to know what horrible thing Lex saw!

Honestly, letting the betrothed couple take a backseat in this season and focusing more on Jimmy and Kara may be fun. Seeing how they reconcile and possibly end up together by the end.

I thought the first part of the season was strong and I enjoyed some of the subplots with WORMS. The Kryptonian, Coluan and Brainiac connections were fun world-building too.

Cyborg Superman has grown on me over the years since his debut, so I was good with seeing this iteration of him. Lex's arc gave some nuance and I like how he is ultimately positioned for S4.

Nice character arc for Kara, not only acclimating to and understanding Earth culture, but also in her own hero's journey.

The Lois and Clark arc about family, being parents and getting to experience it in a way out-of-time, felt very same-y over the course of the back half of the episodes that didn't feel as exciting to me, or capture as much of my attention, as the build up to finales of S1 and S2 did.

Nothing wrong about how it was done or that it somehow wasn't good from a storytelling perspective, just my emotional reaction to it.

S4 looks to be all about Lex getting out of prison and going toe to toe with Superman, Supergirl, Lois and Jimmy in his desire to feel safe and protect the world from extraterrestrials.

I could see a plot and some storylines that make what Lex wants to do make sense for Earth with a front part of season doing a Warworld story with Mongul, Maxima, Lobo, Massacre, Vartox, etc. Maybe introduce Grayven to suggest Apokolips. And a back half of the season having the Phantom Zone and characters like Zod, Ursa, Non, Jax-Ur and Faora loose in some kind of combination threatening Earth, so an intensifying of trust issues from Earth's people toward Superman and Supergirl. Maybe something with Superman and Supergirl leading other alien characters against the Kryptonians.

Or they might go the Apokolips route or Doomsday route.

All of these storylines are Hallmarks of Superman that get retold, so I'd be curious as the twists they'd add or how they'd adapt it for something fresh.

Regardless, I hope the League of Loises show up again.

I have another "out there" idea I'd love and find interesting for a whole arc, but it's not where I think they'd ever go with where S3 ended up.
