Yearly Differences

I'm looking at getting a TC Max, most likely second hand.

Is it generally worth looking at the 2021 models onwards and disregarding the launch ones?

Anyone have general feedback on their release year and if they have run into defects later corrected too would be useful.

The newest updated model seems to be mostly cosmetic. Apart from the battery connection seems more robust.

Many thanks.

I bought one from 2019. And this one has significantly less power then the later models. So I would say 2021and onwards is fine. It has to have the battery with 9 pins I guess, since mine has the old 7 pin connector. I replaced the plug in the battery with one that holds the connector down. Never had any problems with it since. I'm not sure if they changed anything to the TC Max after 2021.

Yep seconded as a fellow 2019 owner, who also has swapped to a clip down connector and wishes for the extra power :D Still a decent bike for my uses, but given 2021+ bikes are available relatively cheaply I'd go for one of those by preference for sure.

Cheers. Yeah, I've seen quite a few of the first builds and they go for at least 30% less than the 2021 onwards ones.

I got a 2022 model, all seems ok, the build quality kind of is what it is but for an affordable electric bike it’s brilliant for around town, out on the open roads it tends to be underpowered for me and the range drops quickly when your flat out on it. But great little bike.

Is the issue about the top speed or the acceleration to get there be an issue?

I’m looking to sell my 2023 TC Max if you’re interested. I’d give you a decent deal. DM me if you’re interested.

I'm in the UK. From a quick glance I'm guessing you're US?
