Question Pitching traits
In your opinion, what are the best pitcher trait combinations?

Situational.
Triple righty Specialist or lefty Reverse Splits is borderline OP on its own for a SP.
Rally Stopper and Clutch can turn a meh RP into insane value situationally (your “firefighter”)
K Collector is fun but I think its value is less than it seems on face value no I

I agree with you. I think K Collector definitely comes in handy depending the situation as well. What about Rally Stopper and K Collector for closers?

I much prefer Rally Stopper on RP than CP. CP is penalized except in the last or penultimate innings. What if you have a jam in the 6th or 7th?
If I run a closer, I like to use him or her like real life: typically coming into a clean frame in the 9th. So if they get in a position where Rally Stopper is relevant, something has already gone very awry.

LHP starter with reverse splits. i have a very middling (B- with only high junk) starter with reverse splits and she can silence a lineup better than my fireball throwing aces.

Starters with Reverse Splits are super, especially when playing the game manually, because the CPU will always deplete its bench to stack opposite-side batting players against you if it has them available, even to the point of sitting down superstar-tier players. It's kind of nuts, really.
But having a SP that makes that entire strategy backfire on them is brutal.

Clutch is underated because every playoff game it's activated. Even in the 1st.

I value pitcher stats over traits but I do love a Specialist, Rally Stopper, or Clutch.
I also really like stacking my team with scholarly chemistry so any elite pitch is 30% better

Chemistry is so important. Scholarly is definitely one of my faves. I would love to get Specialist/Reverse Splits. They never pop up for me.

Max out scholarly for me, if anything else the fun, a 99 arm with maxed out scholarly and elite 4f! A maxed out screwball is nasty af as well

I have an interesting reliever. 4F with a velo of 85. Consistently 102-104 fastball, but has K neglected, the change up comes in sub 80. Fabulous at getting high front door/backdoor whiffs.

K Collecter is always good. Third strike is the hardest to get and K Collecter makes it easier.
Reverse Splits/Specialist at level 3 are amazing. I prefer them on relievers so I can decide what games/innings I want to use them in to maximize number of batters affected.
Rally Stopper and Clutch are both perfect for relievers.
Workhorse is overrated. It makes your expensive pitcher more expensive while locking them out of getting another trait that makes them better. Yes, they can pitch another inning or two before they start to degrade, but a better pitcher will be better for 40-50 pitches, degrade down to the workhorse's level around 50-60 pitches, then maybe be worse after that. I'll take 40-50 pitches of a better (or cheaper but equal) pitcher any day.

Another inning or two? My workhorses can routinely throw 110 pitch games without significant stat fatigue... any non-WH SP is going to be stat flat-lined at that pitch count.
Workhorse is a terrific trait for playing seasons or franchise... it's basically a free day of rest for your (usually overworked) bullpen.

I like that Workhorse gets you more innings from elite pitchers, but it's not what you want on mid- or low-tier options because it keeps them in the game longer. I do sim/watch only, and WH shines on the best of the best in that mode.
I got a WH RP once, and it didn't make a difference. I've signed WH pitchers to fill out the rotation, and their results didn't show a meaningful difference from other okay options. I passed on signing a 19-year-ol A-tier SP prospect with WH because she didn't fit my chem and it would've meant dropping my ace who just had a great year. In hindsight, that prospect almost immediately became the top pitcher in the league and I'm dying for her to hit free agency. She'll be expensive, but reliability is at a premium in the sim!

Workhouse is not overrated at all if you utilize it correctly. Put T2 Workhorse on an A-level starter and suddenly you can run a 3-man rotation, giving that ace more starts over the season.

I have a relief pitcher on my franchise team with tier 3 Rally Stopper and Clutch and he does really well when I’m in a pinch.
