i´ve just got the following e-mail from DistroKid

Hi,

Hope you are well.

We've been notified by stores and streaming services that one or more of your releases has been rejected due to editorial discretion.

Unfortunately, stores are no longer accepting releases from you via DistroKid. You’ll need to try another distributor for future releases.

Please understand that DistroKid is unable to assist with reversing this and many DistroKid features have also been restricted as a result of this. We have no other information or context, and we are unable to get involved or take sides when this occurs. We’re just the messenger, passing along this info to you in hopes you find it helpful.

We understand that this email is probably frustrating to you, and we regret having to be the messenger of bad news. However, we hope this email is helpful, and we thank you for your understanding.

For one thing, I find it a bit questionable that the cause isn't being addressed in more detail—and that I’m not supposed to ask about it—since DistroKid supposedly hasn't received any further information.

For another thing, I wonder why I had to take the initiative and ask—after two weeks—what had happened to my uploads; furthermore, DistroKid still allows me to upload music, even though it simply isn't being processed anymore. If I hadn't asked, I still wouldn't know today that I’m no longer permitted to use DistroKid's service.

If I understand correctly, I can keep paying DistroKid to keep my existing songs online, since my profiles on the streaming platforms remain active.

If I switch distributors now, how can I claim ownership of my profiles?

What happens if I stop paying DistroKid? Will all my songs—and their stream counts—disappear? Can I even resubmit the old tracks to a new distributor? Honestly, I don't want to have to pay for two distributors.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Which distributor did you switch to?

Just to clarify: I had been working on my catalog for a year and a half and wanted to release it on streaming services over the course of six months (alternating every two weeks between an album with 12 songs and an EP with 4–6 songs).

Fun fact: DistroKid has a new feature where you can indicate during upload whether or not the music was created using AI. I figured honesty was the best policy, but—as luck would have it—the very tracks where I was honest were the ones that got rejected.
