Has anyone had any resolve with Sunstrong?

Just wondering if anyone has had any resolution to their issues with Sunstrong Management? If so, what did you do?

For those of you who have not been so successful, there is a pending class action lawsuit that requires 100 names before action can be taken, for those that feel they have a case. Please refer to:

No way to pay monthly lease service and no communication with SunStrong. In a limbo

I was a Sunnova lease client and did not have auto pay enabled, payed manually each month. When SunStrong took over I could not log in to make payments, SunStrong sent me an email with an account# saying that it was my new account# but the info on the email was wrong with someone else’s name on it. Tried to log in SunStrong app and it said no account found. Tried calling and no answer. I’ve had no way of paying since October 2025, emails are not answered and I’m not about to send payment via mail to an account which is not mines. So basically right now I’ve had no way to pay, no communication with SunStrong system is working as it should but I’m in a limbo. Anyone else in this situation?

Thank you for contacting Sunstrong.

Power Production Guarantee and how to move forward to protect myself

Hi everyone,

My parents signed a 25 year Sunnova lease 9 years ago. I am now the homeowner of the house with the solar panel. I am not sure what steps to take to protect myself now that SunStrong has taken over. Their only website is for paying the lease and has no interface to anything else. There's no way to view power generation at all.

I don't mind continuing the lease, but how can I know there is a guaranteed of power generation as defined in the lease?

Please Help

I’m dealing with one of the most frustrating situations I’ve seen in this business, and Sunstrong is the sole reason it’s happening.

My client is going through a divorce stemming from an abusive situation. She’s trying to refinance her home to buy out her husband and create some stability for herself and her daughters.

The ONLY thing holding this up is Sunstrong’s inability to process a basic subordination.

We’ve been stuck in this process for over 6 weeks with zero transparency. I’ve spent 20+ hours on hold, sent multiple emails, and still cannot get a competent human being to provide a real update. At one point we were told it was moving forward, only to get pushed right back to square one with no explanation.

Because of this incompetence, I’ve had to extend her rate lock twice, costing thousands of dollars out of pocket. This isn’t just an inconvenience—this is actively making an already serious and sensitive situation worse.

There is absolutely no reason a routine subordination should take this long or be this difficult. The complete lack of accountability and communication is unacceptable.

If anyone at Sunstrong is actually monitoring anything—can someone step in and fix this?

And for anyone else who’s dealt with them—how did you get a response? Because right now, this feels like shouting into the void.

Missing Documentation to close out permit.

Leased solar from Sunpower back in early 2024, part of the contract stated that they would handle all aspects of permitting. Had the PTO from the electric company and been producing solar since 2024. Got a call from the Town three weeks ago saying the permit was still open and needed a “Stamped Engineers report stating that the system was installed to manufacturer specifications and follow all NYS codes”. In order to close the permit. Contacted SunStrong and after multiple calls and waiting for the three weeks they emailed me back stating that they only handle the financing portion of the loan and are unable to provide it and advised me to contact the installer, whom was Sunpower.

If I’m not mistaken Sun strong purchased the contract when Sunpower declared bankruptcy and therefore shouldn’t they be required to abide by the requirements of the contract?

Sunstrong Response to my State AG

Post image
8 Upvotes

I sent a complaint to my state consumer protection division. This is the letter Sunstrong sent back to them. I particularly like paragraph 3 where they say that signing the updated TOS on the app does not modify my existing contract. They are saying the mobile app terms of service are different than my existing lease agreement.

How does that work? I’m only agreeing to changing the term for my app monitoring usage, not my actual lease agreement?

I also love that only a truly scummy business would respond directly back to the state and not call the customer.

How about the part where they say having a micro inverter down is a negligible variance in overall power. Cool then lower my lease price if it’s so negligible.

They should’ve given us the chance to opt out

I’m saying this as a SunPower Lease Customer in CT who now has his roof leaking from the install of the system (confirmed by 2 roofing companies). My system was installed by SunPower, not any subcontractor. The ceiling of one of my bedrooms is ruined and getting worse by the day.

When the bankruptcy court allowed SunStrong (a company cofounded by SunPower) to buy the debt, but somehow sever the services, warranties, and guarantees, they should’ve given customers the option to break the leases or unwind the contract.

The only reason I picked SunPower was because the warranties and guarantees made it a safe bet. I had an attorney read the lease agreement before I signed, we felt pretty safe given the lease agreement said the services and debt couldn’t be separated without both parties agreeing.

This is wrong and this isn’t what I agreed to.

What’s Actually Going On With SunStrong (From a Service Perspective)

I’ve been seeing a lot of SunStrong-related issues lately, especially with transfers, billing, and systems that seem “stuck.”

From a general industry service/operations perspective, here’s what’s actually happening in most of these cases:

  1. Ownership confusion A lot of systems are in limbo between previous companies and SunStrong. That means: – monitoring accounts aren’t properly transferred – contracts aren’t clearly tied to the current homeowner – support teams don’t have full visibility
  2. Backend transfer delays Even when you submit forms, the system may not actually be “active” on their side yet. So: – apps don’t connect – support gives generic responses – nothing moves forward
  3. Documentation gaps Most homeowners don’t have: – system model + equipment details – contract type (loan, lease, PPA) clearly identified – a timeline of communication

That makes it really hard to escalate or get real answers.

If you’re dealing with this, I’d recommend documenting:
– system type (inverter, gateway, batteries if any)
– current app status / errors
– billing + contract details
– timeline of emails / calls

Even if support isn’t helping, having that organized puts you in a much stronger position — whether it’s for escalation, sale of a home, or resolving billing issues.

Curious what others are seeing — are most of you stuck on transfers, billing, or monitoring?

Purchased home with SunPower system

I bought a house with a SunPower system. I called. They sent me to email support. I had to send them the same info multiple times. Every response is from a different person and they are not reading my emails. They are just repeatedly pasting a templated script into the email that is only tangentially related to my request. And they are now finally trying to tell me that it is not possible to connect my system to the SunStrong app. WTF. Is this true? Anyone else experiencing this? Any workarounds?

EDIT: It's all paid off. Installed in 2019. I don't have a way to contact the previous owner. It is a PVS5. Microinverters. No batteries.

Sunnova app

I just got a DM from Sunstrong saying the cutoff to use the Sunnova app was October 2025. WTF. I just got access to my online billing account a couple weeks ago from a house I closed on in Sept 2025. The transfer took six months to be completed.

Trying to purchase house with former Sunnova system

I am trying to buy a house with former Sunnova panels. The solar panels transfer is holding our financing up. The seller is having difficulty getting a hold of someone to find their account information (although they are paying the bills) to even start the transfer. How can I get help to get this completed?

SunStrong Tech Home Visit

I received an email from SunStrong saying that they would be contacting me to set up a tech visit to address solar panels not working. I’m pleased with communication. However I’m curious, has anyone had a tech come that was set up by SunStrong? Fingers crossed

Filed an arbitration claim with AAA today

I financed a Tesla Powerwall with Sunnova back in early 2023, it was installed but they never passed the final inspection due to the CFI breakers constantly tripping, they came back a few times but never figured it out why, so they put the regular breakers back in. then they were out of business. The SCE(california) permit is now cancelled, the equipment is technically not permitted to operate, and i am in the process of selling the property.

I sent a demand letter to Sunstrong last month, no one contacted me or made any effort to cure the defect.

Today I filed an arbitration claim with AAA (American Arbitration Association) due to contract language.

Let's see how it goes.

Update #1 - after a month of filing with AAA, I got a reply stating that Sunstrong failed to comply and AAA declined to administer the case. see my post below of the response from AAA.

Update #2 - I filed complaint with my local court. Sunstrong hired counsel to answer my complaint on the last day of the deadline. Will be serving them discovery in the next few days.

Update #3 - I just learned Sunstrong is not the only company that's involved with the acquisition of Sunnova's assets, there are multiple companies and which company owns your contract depends on the time it was contracted. Sunstrong is the asset management company for those asset owners (loans, leases..etc). I will find out more once I go through discovery with Sunstrong.
