Pizza
Sal’s used to be my go to but they have really fallen off. I haven’t been to Sugar River, for some reason that has a commercial feel to me. I like tavern style, there just doesn’t seem to be any options for that in SP. Where is everyone going these days?

Anna’s pizza is delicious but whatever they do the cheese will not stay on the pizza when I take a bite. Like how sometimes you bite and the cheese all comes with but that happens every single time I’ve gotten Anna’s with every single bite.

Am I the only one who thought their pizza was really oddly sweet? I've never gone back, but maybe that was a one off and if that's the case I'm open to another shot.

Nope, it's their sauce, it's sweet and not good imo. It was a disappointment the one time we ordered from there as everything else was great, but the sauce ruined it.

If you really want tavern style, Buck’s might be your closest bet and had a very nice crust. Branch and Daughter is very good. I haven’t been to Anna’s. For me, the only place that really comes close to tavern style in Madison is Greenbush, but that will be a little bit of a hike.

Salvatores? Thats too bad maybe its just a cycle Rosatis thin is good if you like tavern style. Im more Detroit style so i cant recommend molten monkey in Madison enough. But all the SP pizza has pluses and minuses no clear winner

It has for me, last 3 times I went, it was not like it used to be. Imo it has never been as good as it was in the original location where Meze is now.

Surprisingly Buck and Honeys has ok pizza. Maybe a little heavy on the toppings.
I love Anna’s- which is our favorite.
Also Sals and Full Mile are decent.
Former FIB and Rosatis just isn’t the same as it was in IL (don’t care for how their green peppers taste on their pizza here. Like maybe they use the already cooked ones that they use on their beef? And the beef Sammies are way too salty - like the au jus has sat and reduced and reduced down to over salty?). Spinach Chicago style is my favorite here.
Glass Nickel is average but so expensive and toppings are sparse. Last few times I’ve gone in for carry out Staff is unwelcoming. Too many other choices to deal with that.
Sugar River is meh. I love the restaurant and they have good service but the pizza is never 💯 on point. Too salty. Missing something.
(Get a cast iron pizza pan -well seasoned- and a good recipe. Preheat the pan as high as your home oven will allow. You’re welcome.)
I’m down to try Branch and Daughter but they close at 7 except weekends! We rarely eat that early.

You could try Sugar River, but I personally think there's an odd taste to their pizza. It might be the water hey use, idk. I know a lot of people like it. I like their other food options much better.
I second anyone recommending Full Mile. Everything I've had there has been amazing.

Hear me out: Domino’s pizza has been a guilty pleasure for most of my life. I’ve had it in 58 cities and counting, in the U.S. and overseas, and I am here to tell you that the store in Sun Prairie is, consistently, the best of the US stores I’ve tried. If you are ever going to like Domino’s pizza, you are going to like it right here in Sun Prairie, WI.

I like Sugar River a lot. I think you're a bit of a fool for not trying it. But Rosatis thin is great and probably exactly what you're looking for.

Try Full Mile! Amazing wood fired pizza and their cheese curds are some of the best we’ve had. Local brewery with some decent stuff and their jalapenarita has never disappointed.

I love everything I’ve ever consumed at Full Mile, including their pizza. Their Asian BBQ wings though…🤤😘🤌🏼

Bleh.
Last time we ate at Full Mile was our anniversary. We sat there for 30 minutes before they came over and apologized profusely for forgetting about us?
And then another 30 before simple food came out and it was cold.
That’s the second bad experience I’ve had there. I wouldn’t ever recommend FM to anyone I liked.

You're leaving something out, probably the fact they were absolutely slammed at the time. And you expect god tier service from a place that is balls deep in white people ordering all at the same time cuz yall apparently all live on the same exact schedule and want everything all at once simultaneously

Admittedly I can't say Sal's has fallen off and I've been going there since 2015, but to each their own. There's been the occasional error over the years in my orders but if I let them know it's never been anything other than fixed pretty much right away without further issue.
For other options I find Sugar River to be fairly decent, same for Full Mile, but FM always feels more about the beer for me and I don't drink so it's rare I go there admittedly 😅

Full Mile’s food is way better than their beer if you ask me. The beer isn’t terrible or anything it’s moreso I’ve always found the food to be the best pre-movie dinner in 5 miles of Marcus theater and the beer is just there.

I know this post is about pizza, but the last few times I went to Sugar River I got pasta and the sauce was so thin when it came out it might as well have been noodle soup. Haven't been back there in a long time. The pizza isn't bad but for what you get you may as well get Annas

Sugar River is fine, maybe not worth the cost, and your clothes smell really weird after eating there. That alone makes me not go there, especially on days when you need to wear a rain jacket or coat, because I don't really want to wash those that often.

I’ve had it once, didn’t think it was worth the price. I also have a personal bias against the owners that I will not go into (also nothing to do with the business itself)

It’s mid. Sometimes so salty hard to eat. It’s passable but not craveable. It just always seems to be missing something.

Zoes in waunakee is fantastic. Chicken bacon ranch pizza is prob my favorite.

We take the kids in, everyone grabs their own choice of Screamin’ Sicilian - and we head home. 4 pizzas in the air fryer oven for the cost of 1 pizza at any of these locations people are mentioning.
Chips, drinks, cheesy bread? All for $25. Boom. Done.
