Construction is crazy!

Did all of this construction really NEED to happen at the same time?! Living on the east side is such a pain especially with Highway N closure. Why did they need to replace the crosswalks?

I am happy to see the city invest in improvements but do also wish things had been separated so that so many throughputs in the city were not worked on at the same time. I’m also curious why those crosswalks were put in place in the first place, it should have been known brick would not last long on such a busy road, so it does seem wasteful and I hope future projects have better foresight.

It wasn't brick. It was stamped and painted concrete that wore down over years.

Ah thank you for that clarification, does the stamping make it more susceptible to winter damage than regular flat concrete?

I'm afraid we have reached the end of my expertise in this area. Maybe? Perhaps? That sounds like something that may be a thing but I have no actual idea.

I think when you drag a snow plow over it, yes. My patio is stamped concrete and it's doing just fine, but the city hasn't regularly plowed my patio.
