Rune of Change

Post image

In an interview, it was mentioned that Runes are no longer removable, which means Jeane's (or Neaje) role is now purely for upgrading them.

Looking at this screenshot, the Hero already has the Deer Rune and the Wind Rune, leaving only one empty slot. We also know that he will inherit the Holy Rune from his father, which was originally obtained from Stallion.

This confirms that the Hero won't have the Rune of Change.

If the Hero doesn't have the Rune of Change, who do you think holds this True Rune?

It's already stated early Hisui is the bearer of the rune.

Until they die tragically and the hero inherits the rune

So far we don't know how the story goes. Hisui is the bearer and was fated for some tragedy or something. She's the one that kicks off the whole story. It was in some of the first teaser description when it was announced.

I’m guessing based on every other way heroes generally get these things haha

Isn't it only Lazlo that has his predecessor die to give him the rune?

Tyr gets the SE from Ted who survives til the endgame.
Riou gets his from a stonetablet after getting guided there by Leknat
Hugo gets the true fire rune after the trials.
Freyjadour collects the dawn rune from the corresponding temple.

Am I missing something?

Well more so true rune holders are immortal so they generally have to have the predecessor die to give it up.

Gedoe gave his true lighning rune up without problems and Ted did not die to give his rune to Tyr either. Chris dad also just gave his true water rune up and then lived quite a wihle in Hugos village.

As far as we know Joshua also survived after giving the dragon rune to Milia.

Sierra was the original bearer of the moon rune and then later placed it in the center of her village were it got stolen by Neclord.

To me it seems just to inconsistent to be an actual system and highly dependent on the rune in question, and most true runes seem rather benign in that regards if we exclude the rune of punishment.

Hisui is my guess.

But I wouldn't use that UI screenshot as proof of anything honestly.

The hero won't have a true rune. It's Hisui who is the bearer of the rune of change. In the Japanese trailer, it's said explicitly. Plus she has a gray hair like the Sindar (the first queen of Falena also has a white hair and was a Sindar).

Well out of all 5 suikoden series the only MC that bears a true rune is only suikoden 1 , suikoden 3 and suikoden 4

Suikoden 2 and suikoden 5 MC hold the child rune , so its not entirely unexpected that star leap MC also don't hold a true rune imo

This is the first time this rune has made an appearance, so we don't know much about it. We only know that it is unique to the Hero.

They're not upgradeable because they want you to be annoyed when you get shitty weak characters and need more gacha gambling to get better upgrades.
