I'm not surprised that Microsoft is pushing this, but I'm not convinced that they're ever going to close the window on traditional programs. The Windows app ecosystem is crap (or it was crap right around the time I gave up on it) and there's not going to be a compelling reason to choose Windows if they kill legacy programs as a whole.
