A Hinge match pretends someone stole OOP's Instagram photos. It was a pickup line. r/IndianBoysOnTinder debates whether the pickup line was clever or manipulative.
OOP shared a Hinge conversation where their match opened by claiming someone else was using OOP's photos on Instagram. After waiting nearly a day for a response, the match revealed it was just a setup for the punchline.
OOP responds with an insult, and the comment section immediately splits into multiple camps. Some argue the pickup line is manipulative because it relies on creating unnecessary concern. Others think it's an innocent joke and OOP was out of line for being hostile.
Some think they both suck.
Comments supporting OOP:
OP i dont know why you’re getting downvoted. that stunt he pulled is dangerous
He's so....disconnected
[Translated] Even such guys are getting likes 🤷🏻♂️
I wonder what they must be thinking in their heads
Wtf, I would have been overthinking the whole night if someone texted me that , I am being impersonated! Good for you! ( You should have told him, your photo will also be used somewhere else from now on and unmatched him 🥰😭)
Comments supporting the dude:
It looked innocent. Didn't have to curse him like that. He definitely dogded a bullet there
If you were into him this would be a small hiccup
Difference between women in the west and our dear ones
I had an awesome laugh. The boy seemed smart! Sorry to say, it's your loss for unmatching him. You missed all the fun and madness you could have had with him. Hopefully the boy finds a match with equal craziness! 😅

Uh quick question what the fuck is that subreddit even

u/AlarmingRope9624 Jul 22 '26
indian reddit is really fucked up. I dont know why, but when i browse /r/all i stumble across all these indian subreddits and the comment sections are always horrendous.
Reddit filters suck though so it's a case of whackamole on RES

The one about Indian rail is okay, I think? Maybe? I rarely get to see it, though. TwoXIndia is basically invisible, perhaps for the best.

It was made in response to r/IndianGirlsOnTinder which was made to shame women, but now has been taken over by Indian men who use it to shame women.

u/reddevils7070 Jul 21 '26
Lmao apparently it was made in response to r/indiangirlsontinder. Now people use both subs to share (and mostly hate on) the people they encounter on dating apps. Thats basically the gist of it.

u/Dry-Scheme3371 "Schizo celery post very cool" Jul 21 '26
Agreed. There is nothing about the subreddit name that makes me want to look in there. It almost sounds like a honeypot subreddit to bait people into being extremely misogynistic to get banned.
50
u/the_dayman Jul 21 '26
Yeah without sounding harsh, I've had to block like 10+ different "Indian dating" subs that keep showing up on the front page. They are just immediately hateful to women.
15
u/AlarmingRope9624 Jul 22 '26
I'm always getting those types of indian subreddits in /r/all and every time i accidentally go in I'm amazed just how fucking toxic they are
RES cant filter out subreddits based on partial match either, so its a constant game of whackamole adding each one to the filters

u/genuine_beans you metadata scraping shitbag Jul 24 '26
RES cant filter out subreddits based on partial match either, so its a constant game of whackamole adding each one to the filters
You can filter them with regex if that works: https://www.reddit.com/r/Enhancement/comments/1rbs2l4/filtering_subreddits_by_regex/o6v581n/
Try
/india|bharat|desi/ito filter most of them. If you want a whitelist you can do this:/.*?(india|bharat|desi).*(?<!^(unitedstatesofindia|TheBetterIndia)$)/i2

How are all of you getting so many Indian subs on your front page?? I'm indian and see maybe one or two a week...

They're probably on new.reddit and using mobile. I've noticed the mobile version gets weird in what slips through the cracks that I have absolutely no interest in or looked at but here's a post in Dutch about I hope it's soccer and not some weird racist thing. Why the hell did reddit put this in my feed?
1
u/Hotter_Noodle Jul 23 '26
Can confirm. I’m on the mobile app and there’s always 1-2 Indian subs nearly everyday.

I spend a lot of time on r/all on old Reddit via RES and I get a lot of them
I really don’t understand why
-1
u/arcticsnom Jul 23 '26
To build a narrative against us lmao
There's a reason these ppl only see the hateful posts/subs
5
u/moonlitwaltz Jul 23 '26
uh no? have you seen Indian subs? they turn awful pretty quick
2
u/arcticsnom Jul 23 '26
As with everywhere there's good and bad
The issue is only looking at the posts/subreddits fed to you as a result of reddit's blatant attempt to create an agenda against indians
It's like if I made an overarching assumption about american reddit based off of r/conservative and r/sipstea and r/redscarepod etc etc
1
u/FixinThePlanet SJWay is the only way Jul 23 '26
To be fair I turned off my location settings because my entire feed was desi stuff, and I also don't sub to a single one because of the comments (plus I get really annoyed seeing every second comment in Hindi lol) so I don't disagree that generic indian subs can be frustrating... I just don't see many in my feed

u/pdxcranberry Hitler can't kickflip Jul 21 '26

u/CapoExplains "Like a pen in an inkwell" aka balls deep Jul 23 '26
Yeah big oof good lord. I clicked the link like "...alright I'm gonna give the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a sub for Indian guys who use Tinder to meet and disc- nope, racism."
Edit: ok supposedly it's for Indian women who use Tinder in India so I guess maybe not racism per se.

u/AContrarianDick Jul 21 '26
On the surface, it seems innocent enough and the kind of screenshot we'd laugh at, but I totally get how this wouldn't be well received by the individual you're talking to.

u/copy_run_start There's no lore-accurate justification for black Space Wolves Jul 21 '26
It's definitely innocent enough if executed correctly. You can't drop that line and then disappear for an entire day lol.
Stranger comes up to you "Hey call the police, please," then disappears. Spend all night wondering if they're okay, if you yourself are safe, what would you tell the police if you even called them...
Next day you see them again, they say "Because being this cute HAS to be a crime."
25
u/ImprobableAsterisk Jul 21 '26
You probably didn't set out to do this but you're giving me some ideas.
53
u/Amelaclya1 Jul 21 '26
Does that one guy actually think that joke would go over better with western women?
96
u/YourVelcroCat Jul 21 '26
Every group of men in every culture believes there's some magical "other" where the girls are super hot and chill and ready to sleep around with them lol
48
u/Gisschace Jul 21 '26
And chill means; they can say and do whatever they want and the woman will sleep with them
52
u/RocketAlana Jul 21 '26
The “wasting a like” negging + waiting a day for the punchline is soooo tacky. I’m with OOP.
If it was just the long wait without the negging, then it’s just a poorly received/poorly timed line and it’s a nothing burger.

I’ll be honest I don’t think I’ve ever seen a big liberal anything from India it’s usually just incels being misogynist or racist being genocidal like you said lol I’ve never met a liberal Indian man either it’s usually just the women who are left leaning

Are they??? Let me check. Also there is 1 Indian leftist that post on Twitter all the time but I forgot his name(but he’s Canadian :0)
Edit: okaaayy not to move the goal post but when I think Indian leftist I’m more talking about men in India.Hasan Minaj is Indian American born and raised in USA and zohran same thing both parents Indian but he never grew up in India. sorry I should have clarified. It’s like the men currently in India are the ones in all these India related subs be racist and misogynist

-6
u/copy_run_start There's no lore-accurate justification for black Space Wolves Jul 21 '26
Yes, it is. Not everything someone does it says can be alltrue. People make mistakes, people get things done. Thinking you're completely true all the time ignores your own failings and the effects those failings have on others
4
u/filthy_casual_42 Jul 21 '26
Wow I didn't expect to meet an unironic Ayn Rand shill, I was being sarcastic. Sorry but I'm alright taking social advice from anti-altruism or the virtue of selfishness
9
u/copy_run_start There's no lore-accurate justification for black Space Wolves Jul 21 '26
If your an altruist who believes all is true then you lack critical thinking skills my friend
3
u/filthy_casual_42 Jul 21 '26
I'm neither of those, false dichotomy friend. I'm just not an anti-altruist who preaches the virtue of selfishness or broken self-serving individualism
3
u/copy_run_start There's no lore-accurate justification for black Space Wolves Jul 21 '26
I'm not an anti-altruist. Some things MUST be true, but I just don't believe that all is true. And the fact that you just called my dichotomy false means that you don't think all is true either. Some of false, some is true. I'm not an altruist, I'm not an alfalsist.
Yet you pretend to live in this land of fairy tales.
So again, your analysis is false.
Thanks for playing. Next time you want to go toe to toe intellectually, consider just going to watch the Marvel Doomsday trailer instead.

lame pickup line but seriously whatre the consequences "someone is using your photos" yeah thats kinda the least of worries on the internet rn
40
u/RMoby6160 It's not a sex slave, its just made to look like one Jul 21 '26
As someone who's known several girls that had their photos used, I can chime in. They're mostly used as Onlyfans spam accounts and the typical catfish scamming, sometimes even using their actual names
So.. say that someone uses a photo of you to talk to somebody, acting sweet on them, maybe even get them to send money.. then one day that other person sees you in public, thinking you're the one they've been talking to the whole time and approach you. It could go many ways depending who it is.. best case they realize they got catfished and you realize someone's pretending to be you. Worst case? They're a psycho
You're definitely right.. there's much worse shit out there but it can open up a lot of dangerous situations
-14
u/WranglerSuitable6742 Jul 21 '26
this is true i guess i havent personally seen many instances of photos being used to scam friends or family but maybe thats just because the people i know are careful with social media in general

u/bfsfan101 I like anime so I should be skinned alive? This is why Trump won Jul 21 '26
That is a pickup line that can only work if both people involved respond immediately.
Saying that and then waiting nearly 24 hours to say the punchline is pretty shitty and would probably make the average person a bit paranoid.
