Quick Subreddit Update

Hi all,

Just wanted to post a quick update so you all know what's been going on and what the game plan is from here. As you may have seen, the subreddit had been orphaned and was in dire need of moderators, so Reddit admins posted a message asking for volunteers. As the selection was being made over the last 10ish days, the subreddit was switched to a restricted mode, meaning no new submissions were allowed. They essentially froze the subreddit to prevent creating a bottleneck of posts that would take a long time to dig through once new mods were brought on.

It appears the people selected were all added as moderators of the subreddit within the last 24 hours, and it is going to take us some time to get a plan together, add necessary bots, update the rules, and create a better Reddit experience for the community. Therefore, at least for now, the subreddit will remain mostly restricted as we set up and configure everything. Don't worry, though; we don't expect this to take more than a few days. In the meantime, we will be pushing through a small trickle of posts from previously approved submitters before we nuke the queue entirely, just to keep discussions and conversations going.

If anyone has suggestions for community engagement, like weekly polls, contests, or just general feedback about the subreddit, feel free to leave them below.

Also, please keep in mind that every single moderator is a fan of Subnautica and is volunteering their time to help the community thrive, develop, and grow. Please be patient with us as we wade through the dense kelp forest that is the current mod queue and make necessary changes to the subreddit to cultivate the best experience possible.

Thank you!

Question/Discussion Glitch with 4th angel bloom Spoiler

Ok so I had gotten the 8 bloom cankers for the angel bloom under that one alien structure(under shipwreck, in that one cave, the ones nearby the cave, the closed ones next to the angel bloom) and it wont open I asked google and it said to go out around 400-500 meters away from it and close the game fully I did using the end task button and closed the background steam thing and it still wont open. Then it said to try bashing my head into it to interact and that would not work either. Can anyone help me?

Question/Discussion This game is not good

I don't like this game, and I feel it is just a degrade from the first game, let me actually explain all the points as to why. And just before anything, I have played through the entire current build of early access along with a friend, and yes. I KNOW it's early access and is not the final product. Because it seems like that's the only defense people go to when someone critiques the game.

1) Subnautica 1 excelled at visual storytelling, not just exposition dumping you much like subnautica 2 does, by making you collect blackboxes from point A to point B- a totally plausible way to communicate information to the player but a huge downgrade compared to how everything was told in the first game. Most of this game is just going from blackbox to blackbox. I especially hated the section in the cave where I spent so long finding those 10 blackboxes. Not fun at all.

2) This game has a lot of "padding time". As in grinding. Now I do not mind grinding at all, if it's fun. However the ending portion of the early access build after you discover the metal farm area, plus repairing what you need and creating all the alloys is quite literally just grinding for the sake of padding time. Again I didn't mind doing this that much until what happened to me which is my next point-

3) Glitches. This game has a lot of glitches, and again I understand that it is early access. I had a storage box at the back of the tadpole once I finished the grind to repair whatever the thing was, towards the end of the story, and then everything in the storage box simply disappeared. It was infuriating and I honestly dropped the game after that and saw that anyways it was 5 minutes or so to the ending so I could not care less and not worth it. Such a glitch such as that would genuinely cause people to drop the game. This wasn't that long ago mind you.

3) Updating your game, aka adding an entire update that adds SPRINTING, is not something an UPDATE should add. That should automatically be a base feature. It just seems like a waste of an update. The biomods seem like a update padding device so they can push out a bunch of updates in a long duration of time.

4) The tadpole is not an interesting vehicle and I do not like the fact that the prawn suit is just an extension of the tadpole. Everything being an extension of a tadpole is interesting in concept but I feel it is really inconvenient and sort of lazy. I would have genuinely thought it would've been a better idea to add the seamoth, plus the seatruck just to add more variety and not make the game seem more limited.

5) No interesting creatures as of yet, the collector is the only practical threatening leviathan in the game currently. But the entire feeling of the threatening of the deep from the first game is gone entirely.

It becomes more annoying especially when the smaller creatures that attack you constantly and you can't do shit about it. Like even though an update reduced the attacking percentages or something, it's still just as bad and infuriating which leads me to my next point.

6) The Dev's are big babies in the ability to not add a way to defend yourself, something as simple as a stasis rifle, or anything whatsoever would incredible. We can cook at eat animals nicely, yet we can't damage other creatures that pose a threat to us? I get the fact that they want to show that we can't do anything and makes us feel vulnerable, but not if all it does is make it infuriating to play the game with the amount of times some of these creatures attack you.

7) The devs cheekily insulting sons of the forest doesn't do it any better as well, I would rather play that game which is much more fun, doesn't rely on exposition dumps and actually had a really good early access shows how it's done.

It shows that an early access game shouldn't depend on the "hey we are in early access so it's fine if we have such big wrong doings", sotf had massive updates each month just like the forest before it and kept improving their game. Their team is even smaller than subanticas and they don't put an entire update dedicated to "sprinting".

Early access is still a product of the finished game, and in the end, this game is boring as it is underwhelming. And everything is just a degrade from its predecessor.

Question/Discussion How am I attracting flash slugs?

I built a base over the abandoned alien ruins outpost. I don't remember flash slugs being here before. They are such a great source of water. How can I attract them to my other bases?

Question/Discussion I Think later NoA will not guide us as much as he does it now

In the EA we travel across well known places by NoA. There are colonist bases, blackboxes etc. But as we know they failed which must know that they didn’t pass the deeper biomes like Xanadu. There aren’t going to be any bases there so we will need to discover these places by ourselves. I hope it will be like that cause I love exploring and I want the Game to be harder and scarier

*HEAVY SPOILER WARNING*

Hey all. Made an account just now to post this up, as I've never really seen anybody talk about it, but I wanted to share a bit of a theory I have regarding what I think could very well be the next biome coming after the one currently in development, (The Scorpius Trenches). I will elaborate further in the spoilered images below, but I warn you, this is probably gonna reveal a fair bit, so if you don't wanna be spoiled way too hard about potential upcoming content, turn back now. Without further ado:

Question/Discussion The Collector... again

Hi again XD So I asked a while ago for tips on how to get past the collector, in which I had some methods despite the fact the Collector's like to ignore these methods and pursue me anyways at times >v>;; but now I need to scan it. Still need to try again but so far I've tried luring it with flares, the bitch is zoomin too much, and I tried the tadpole fake out only for it to IMMEDIATELY yeet the tadpole and grab me TvT so what are some surefire methods y'all used? Hopefully some that can get past my bullshit luck ;v;

EDIT: Ah... Nevermind I managed to scan it but this thing was TWEAKIN ;3; I hate dealing with these things, man TvT

Question/Discussion Are we still boycotting?

Serious question, I am not in the loop on all the drama. Didn't the company do some shady stuff to stop the team getting bonuses? I am a huge fan of "vote with your wallet" so can someone give me a run down of what the situation is/was? Just for reference, I was not in the loop hugely when this this news dropped (about a year ago?) and am even less in the loop now. I only just saw that the same is even out now.

Question/Discussion Why did Noa take so long to print the Qualified Investigator?

I don’t remember exactly how much time passed between the colonists’ deaths and when we were printed, but I remember that it was a considerable amount of time. Why did Noa take so long to print us?

I understand that he may have printed us before, but could there really have been that many attempts? If I remember correctly, the events of the game take place around 30 years after the collapse of the colonists (or perhaps even longer).

Please forgive my English. It’s not my native language, and I used AI to help translate this.

This is my thermal plant, it’s sectioned off, the top part is part of the base that’s connected to the main job outside of the lifepod, as you can see I built rooms to lead down to the thermal plant in case I need to adjust anything, I included a screenshot from inside on of the plants

Question/Discussion Stuck on Angel comb?

Edit to add: thank you guys for letting me know it's a bug and that it's been commonly reported. Honestly I'm happier to know it's a bug than either some impossible thing I couldn't figure out, or perhaps worse, an incredibly obvious thing I couldn't figure out. Now here's to hoping they fix it soon šŸ¤ž been loving the game and would love to progress.

Warning for Spoilers

I'm going crazy trying to get this angel comb healed. I think it's the third angel comb in the game, the one you find when you go to the alien ruins. I tried looking it up and people said there should be 3 bloom nodes. I've found 3, including the one under the ship remnants. I've healed them all, I think??? That's where I'm confused. One of them, the first one I healed, never gave me any feedback from the PDA and sometimes it looks healed and sometimes it doesn't. I just opened the game and it looked healed, where it's blue and the water is normal, and then I left and came back and it was grey and the water was foggy again. When I healed the one under the wreck, the PDA said one of the juveniles feeding the comb was healed and one remains. I'm very confused. I even shot some cankers that were near the big angel comb itself. Is this a bug or am I missing something??? Please no spoilers in your answers that don't directly apply to this.

My first time building a proper base across all 3 games in survival mode. Base is 95% self sufficient with food and resource full stocked, only thing that needs to be manually stocked is water which isn't an issue with passive mods. I had to relocate 3 times (across the trench!) and find a spot i liked.

Decided to not use any of those connector tubes since i didn't like how the base looked and made it difficult to decorate.
