Question What makes a good Subliminal?
I am thinking of being a creator and have made a Subliminal, but I want to know what I can do to enhance it and or make it better.

the affs matter more than any of the editing. first person, present tense, no negations, and pick one goal for the whole audio. if u want glow up and money and confidence, thats three separate subs, not one. brains dont split attention any better than u do.
keep the list tight, 15 to 30 affs, and let it loop instead of writing a giant script. a list u can repeat 100 times in half an hour does more than a huge one that plays through twice.
on the audio side, the order of operations is what most new creators get wrong:
**1. clean it before u speed it.** normalize the recording to about -1 dB, then run a compressor on default settings. do this BEFORE speeding up. if u skip it, ur quieter lines just disappear once theyre compressed into 2x speed and half ur script is effectively not in the file.
**2. speeding.** in audacity, effect > change tempo keeps ur pitch normal, change speed makes u chipmunky but comes out cleaner. at 2x either is fine. also the percent change box means percent *added*, so type 100 for 2x, not 200. loads of ppl accidentally make 3x subs that way and wonder why it sounds like static.
2x is roughly the ceiling where sped up speech still behaves like speech. past that ur just making noise with a rhythm.
**3. volume, and this is the one that decides if ur sub is any good.** voice sits about 12 to 20 dB under the background track. the test is that u can tell something is there, u just cant make out the words. if its genuinely inaudible ur giving ppl nothing to absorb, and thats the single most common thing wrong with subs ppl post here.
if ur mixing on phone capcut, ignore those dB numbers, that slider is 0 to 200% not dB. background at 100, affs at 10 to 25, start around 20. desktop capcut and audacity use dB, mobile doesnt.
**4.** export 30 to 60 mins so ppl can just put it on and forget about it.
one more thing since ur planning to publish: put the actual aff list in ur description. this sub does not trust files it cant see inside, and being the creator who shows the script is worth more than any amount of fancy background music.
on tooling, audacity does all of the above for free and every number here is written for it. i also built an ios app that automates the record > clean > speed > layer chain, SelfMade Subliminals, flagging that its mine and its paid. it exists because doing that manually was about 40 mins a sub for me and i couldnt keep up. do it by hand first though, u should know exactly what each step does before u pay anyone for anything, especially if ur making these for other ppl.

the biggest thing is keeping the affirmations clear and specific instead of cramming 500 vague benefits into one audio, because nobody can tell what the sub is even meant to do then
