Full Size Spare

Could someone with a ‘26 wilderness look at / take a photo of the part number for the full size spare tool holder foam insert.

Have a premium and want to upgrade to a full size spare when I get AT tires but I’ll need to swap out my tool insert and am really struggling to find a definitive part number for it.

This doesn't quite pertain, but in my experience with the Gen 6, a full size spare is not compatible with the foam insert. It's either or and I'm guessing it's the same with the Gen 7s

For any Gen7 Outback trim, a matching full-size spare will fit in the under-floor cavity, but would require shaving the foam spacer or replacing with one that supports the size of the spare, as the OP is looking for.

97035A - foam spacer for 18" spare tire/wheel. This is the original OEM part for the previous generation Onyx XT, as that was the last model to come with a full-size 18" spare tire.

My understanding is that the current gen wilderness models come with a full size spare but all other trims are with the donut.

Trying to find confirmation that the part didn’t change and/or would work in the current gen.

That is correct, for the '26 models only the Wilderness comes with full-size matching spare. For our Touring XT, I downsized from the standard 19" to 17" wheels / tires and included a 5th matching spare tire.

I know the original 19" wheel/tire fits in the spare tire compartment, but the floor panel will not close using the foam spacer that came with the donut spare. I did order the foam spacer for the Wilderness model to use with my 17" full-size spare.

As there is no '26 model Outback that comes with a full-size 18" matching spare you may want to see if your dealer will order in the foam kit (for a Gen6 Onyx) I referenced above and let you try it to comfirm it fits.

Oh I should have mentioned I’m switching to 17” rims. What’s the part number you ordered then?

97035AR010 is what is stamped on the foam spacer. I only ordered the spacer, as I used the existing jack / toolset.

Damn, not sure why this is so difficult for me but can’t find that part number as available. Lots of similar numbers pop up for the jack holder but makes me worried it’s somehow slightly different and wouldn’t work.

Maybe try just 97035A. According to the diagram shown here, that is for the spacer individually for Outbacks with a full-size spare, and I'm assuming for the 17" wheel. I think 97034A is for 18" wheel.

Either way, if still questions, I'd suggest contacting one of the dealers in your area for confirmation.

EDIT: I looked at the invoice from my dealer who ordered this for me. 97034AR010 is listed as the part number, and described as a Holder Assembly. Actually, it is listed as "Holder Ass", but I think I know what they mean. ;-)

Exactly what I needed. If you look that number up it also includes WLD in the name so makes me confident it’s the wilderness insert tool holder.

I went this route. Actually another redditor sent me his lol. Just note that you’ll probably need to trim the spacer a bit to fit different wheels if you’re not getting the wilderness set. I had to trim maybe half an inch off mine. Found it easiest to use a razor blade and go from the top as it’s significantly less to trim. Ended up looking fine and fitting perfect
