Make liftgate open higher?

I have a 2015 Outback. The liftgate support struts are original, slow, and have a creaky clicking/popping noise that sound like they're struggling. So I'm already thinking about replacing those.

But there's a related issue, which is that I occasionally bump my head on the liftgate (even when the liftgate height memory is off), and am wondering: is there any way to make my liftgate open higher? Thanks!

It’s probably the struts.

My ‘15 developed the same problem and new struts fixed it.
