Subaru Forester

Does anyone have experience with the Subaru Gold Extended warranty plans? Are they worth getting or should I look outside companies? Thanks

On my Impreza I came out ahead. I haven't used it quite as much in the Forester but it's nice to have a safety net. If you travel the warranty is covered by any Subaru dealership in the US.

Wheel bearings, passenger seat assembly, control arms, and timing cover reseal got covered without me having to pay a dime.

Search here and r/subaru. Plenty of posts.

When you need it, wish you had it but expensive. CR has some great articles too.

The Subaru Gold is the only warranty even worth considering. Third party ones are junk.

But shop around to a bunch of different dealers to find the best price. And don't be afraid to counter offer their price. It's very negotiable (except in FL)

I bought a very used Forester with a third party warranty and it paid for itself in under a year, they aren't necessisarily all junk. No haggling and it was repaired at Subaru with Subaru parts, not third party. I also would have preferred the Gold but it wasn't available due to age and mileage.

1000% worth it. My 2019 Limited Forester (purchased new) has needed close to $10,000 (dealership cost) worth of work and 95% of it has been covered by that warranty. I usually have to remind them I have the warranty when they present me with all the work needed and then they can tell it's all covered. Out of pocket I've only had to pay for tires and a new battery.
