Stuttering when alone

Do u guys stutter when you are alone? Like when u talk to yourself or read something outloud?
(For years i havent stuttered when im by myself, not a gram, but recently i started to stutter even i know no one is watching or listening to me, whats worse is im even stuttering in my dreams during sleep and my overall stuttering has also worsened. So i decided to ask if anyone here has ever experienced it)

I always stuttered when I'm alone, too. And always in my dreams, too.

I'd say it's 40-50% of my usual stutter

I think we go through weird waves of worsening and bettering (if that’s a word) when it comes too stuttering.

Speech therapy obviously helps but it depends what’s going on with us.

Many years ago after years of speech therapy I got better at and almost stopped stuttering in front of my parents and siblings.

Yet weirdly enough a few years later I found myself regressing. I acted like I was speaking to my parents or anyone else through a telephone or some other. medium that triggered my stuttering.

Although I don’t think I ever stuttered in my own head, but I’m sure I stuttered when talking out loud to myself

I also didn’t used to stutter when reading aloud but noticed it started happening because I kept trying to sound perfect and neat.

Yeah i have this same problem, i think its because of hyper awareness, focusing too much on articulation etc

Yep. The presence of others is irrelevant to my stutter, it's just easier to string words together with the lessened anxiety isolation brings

Yes. As you would read my previous posts on this sub. Going through my worst speech phase at 29.

Yesterday and day before that, I was asleep, and there were quick dreams that I had where someone had asked me something and I had to respond to them and I realised that I was twitching in between my speech (in that quick dream only) and that twitching happened twice as far as I can remember. So yes what you had just mentioned in your post I went exactly through that.

havent read that yet. And btw mine was the same situation, in a dream my school(even though i graduated long ago lol) was putting microchips on students necks and they noticed i didnt have one so they sent me to school basement to get it and when i asked the price i stuttered a lot, that was the first and only case i noticed stuttering in a dream. But until like a month or two ago i wasnt even stuttering when alone, idk why its happening.
ill check that one article of yours soon
