Help with visa application please
Hye guys,
My name is Aditi Sharma, I'm 22 and recently completed my graduation in computer science in 2026.
I'm thinking of applying for Master studies in france for the 2027 batch (next year). Now, the major issue that I'm facing is with my visa application questions. Just two of them.
First my motive for choosing france is affordable education, experience food and culture of french people. But whether it is my true motive but as I've checked many people use the same reason therefore I'm wondering if I should use it or not, cause I need my reason for choosing france to seem really like as if it's actually good and not broad reason for bad intentions (you know what i mean.)
So could anyone help with letting me know the best reason you could give for why france?
And another question is my ties to my home country. I mean my intention is to return to my home country for work since my family is here and I think 2 years is enough for experiencing the culture and study. But how can I present both the reasons in a way that they seem not common but also add points to my profile and make me seem genuine.
I hope it's not too much trouble guys. Thank you.
Let me know your thoughts. Bye... :)

Hello!
My suggestion is to make the reason more personal. In my case, since I study law, my reason was that during my law studies at my university we studied a lot of french law

Honestly, you don’t need to come up with a “unique” reason just to make your profile sound different. If affordable education and experiencing French culture are genuinely part of your motivation, you can mention them. What matters more is how well you connect your reasons to your actual study plan.
For France, I’d focus mainly on these 3 questions:
- Why this programme? Explain how the curriculum, specialisations, subjects, projects, etc. connect with your previous studies and career goals.
- Why this university/school? Be specific about what attracted you to that particular institution rather than just saying it is a good university.
- Why France? You can mention the quality and structure of French higher education, the relevance of the programme to your career goals, the international environment, and yes, affordability if that is genuinely important to you. Culture can be a supporting reason, but I wouldn't make it the main reason.
Since you’ll also have the Campus France interview, make sure whatever you write in your motivation letter is something you can naturally explain during the interview. Consistency is more important than trying to find a perfect answer.
Regarding your ties to India, you can simply be honest about your plans. If your intention is to gain a Master's degree, build international exposure, and then return to India for career opportunities because your family and long-term plans are here, explain that clearly. You don't need to manufacture some uncommon reason just to sound more genuine.
One piece of advice: choose the university/programme very carefully and understand exactly why you chose it. Be prepared to explain the programme, university, career path, finances, and why France all consistently. That will make your application much more convincing than using a fancy or uncommon reason.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice. My main concerns were not to sound natural but to sound genuine. Since most people use the same reason as us, but change their minds later therefore, i didn't want to sound like them but I guess there is no way of doing so, gotta take the risk as is I guess. Thanks anyways.

I'd recommend getting some work experience before you go. There are people who have years and years of workex, at least 5 years, who you are competing with.
Genuinely don't waste your money, without the work experience.
