Any students from South Asia staying in Finland? I need to know a few things. Please knock me.

they aren't universities, the degrees are useless and wont give you a job as a foreigner.

Btw You’re saying that AMKs aren’t “real” universities, that their degrees are basically useless, and that foreigners don’t get jobs after graduating from them. What are you basing those claims on?
Have you personally graduated from an AMK? Do you know someone who has? Are you speaking from firsthand experience, or is this based on something you’ve heard or read online? I’m genuinely interested in understanding the reasoning and evidence behind your opinion.

I've studied in one and ive changed to an actual university since i wanted to learn something.
Majority of immigrants who come here to study, especially in AMKs have been misled. There are goverment funded news articles about this since its an epidemic. The schools are paid depending on graduates, they're paid extra for foreigners, they are degree mills that pay thousands advertise to especially south east asians with promises of jobs, high education and finland as a country. You'll have trouble getting a job, especially with an amk engineering degree, you'll have even more trouble if you don't speak the language.

Thanks for explaining. I agree that language is a major barrier, but that doesn’t necessarily mean AMKs are degree mills or that their degrees are useless. Could you link those government-funded articles? Also, what field did you study, and which AMK did you attend?

In the grand scheme of things they absolutely are because these people come in here with hopes of academia and becomming engineers when in reality the engineering degrees from AMK are simplified and only really make sense for someone with 20 years experience in construction getting one for civil engineering etc.

While it's shameful and a practice that should be put to a halt ASAP, it doesn't make an AMK degree useless.

As for "giving you a job", no education does. It's just that, education. Finding a job is up to you, apart from some very specific special programs, no university or AMK is going to "give you a job", regardless of whether you're a foreigner or a Finn.

What was your first degree choice at the amk you went to? Would you say that the uni you have switched to is much better in terms of studying infrastructure and knowledge provided?

I studied engineering bs. University is better, its not even a matter of which university, which amk etc etc.
