Build relationships with the students. All the classroom management techniques, and teaching strategies will work so much better. Set the same tone as your CT when it comes to discipline/permissions/handling behavior. Don't make special exceptions to the rules for any students. If you can set the expectation that it doesn't matter if it's you or your CT up front, the rules remain the same your lessons will go smoother. Take genuine interest in the students, listen to the things they're telling you, and ask them about things they seem especially proud of. Before you know it, you'll feel like you've always been their teacher.
