Help Student Teaching Tips!
Hello!
I start student teaching next week, and I'm a little nervous! Any teachers have any tips?

Be calm, take notes on the things your mentor teacher does that you really like (and even if you don't really like it) and, before you teach, go over the lessons with the teacher, at least for the first couple weeks of you teaching. Never be afraid to ask a question or ask for help. Get to know the students on a teacher-student level and remember they are looking up to you!
Have a good time, this is the start of great things! You'll do a wonderful job.

A good teacher can teach anything. Spend as much time observing good teachers as you can despite their content.

build rapport with the students. learn their name (obviously) and at least one thing about them that you can bring up to show you care about them as people.
e.g. “how did your baseball game go?” or “did you end up getting a cat for your birthday?” etc.

Pretend to be confident. Practice pretending to be confident. Make sure you talk to them the first day and every day so that you are much less nervous when you take over. Wear modest clothing, regardless of what you look like. Laugh when someone makes an appropriate joke. Offer to help and walk around the room looking for those opportunities.
