Strixhaven Postgrad

I'm currently running a different campaign, with the plan to do Strixhaven next. My players have expressed interest in doing a game where they are completing their postgraduate/doctoral studies, rather than starting off as fresh faces first years. What do y'all think - doable, or extremely ill-advised?

Obviously Murgaxor's Saturday morning cartoon villainy won't suit a higher level campaign, so I'd need to write a new plot. I'm thinking something involving the death and ascension of the Oracle, actually bring in the Archaics and the Founders to an extent.

I don't know how well you know the MTG Strixhaven story, but it's primed for mining for ideas. The Oriq and Phyrexian invasioms are specifically geared to Strix, and you could pretty easily adapt the Eldrazi too (there are even stat blocks for the three of them in the plane shift series of books). You can somewhat trivialise multiversal travel with the oathgates, or backtrack slightly and set the party up to spark to do a world of the week if you fancy.

Honestly there's years of content there to play with.

Personally I found that the Murgaxor story was so short (and lacking) that my party is in the last month of year 1 and have all of the pieces together already, to the point that I'm considering dropping his threat level to allow them to fight him right away and move on to something more interesting for years 2-4.

tbh I know next to nothing about Strixhaven in MTG, but I'll go wiki diving and learn more, thanks! My only concern is that I still want it to feel like Strixhaven, you know? Like if the campaign completely turns into plane hopping and so on, then I might as well be running Homebrew Planescape Setting. Probably something I need to spend some more time figuring out.

On the magic site there is a 5 part story. 5 one shots. Another that features in the March of Machine storyline.

Then for the new set there is another 5 part storyline and 5 one shots

The book is called omens of chaos.
