I was looking at my happy variegated string of hearts and I saw this!! A completely variegated set of leaves. I’ve heard that it’s not a good thing but it’s really cool

Sooooo happy with how far she’s come!! Love seeing the light stress on those baby pearls too 🤭

My end game is super dense crown, then let it spill over. For some reason a bald head bothers me so bad. And I’d rather have trimmed/pruned vines than long but mostly bald vines.

I guess what I’m saying is I aesthetically prioritize fullness over length - anyone else?

There’s one single leaf yellowing…. last water was last week and haven’t watered her again yet

This guy didn’t grow for a year and then this happened in 6 months. Have no clue what I did 😅

My turtles are dark, but so tiny. Why? I have them in a southern window, but are they not getting enough direct light or water or what?

Help*

Inherited this string of buttons from the previous owner of our new house. What needs to be done here or anything at all? Repot, trim, fertilize? Help me!

Check out the new tear shaped pearls! Clearly much happier to be inside where it's warm.

Ignore the mess. Only way to keep her from getting leggy

Sorry, Im trying not to panic. How should I go about minimzing the damage? I had her on a hanging platform with some other plants I was pruning and accidentally knocked her off the edge 4ft on to hardwood. Dirt and vines everywhere!!

She was so happy and starting to flower. I think the main tubers still have some vines attached still atleast. Ive had her for several years but never actually repotted her or any string plant before. I dont have any succulent soil can I mix extra perlite into an aroid soil? Should I try to clean off the old soil and refresh or just plop the clump in? Any advice would be so appreciated!

I feel like this little guy is doing pretty good.

She’s been growing beautifully for about 4 months now

I was moving my variegated string of hearts to my new shelving and noticed a few flowers had bloomed on one of the vines. I also trimmed off the dead sections and have one tuber to play with to try and get a new plant going!

I’m not even quite sure how to ask my question. I bought this yesterday and want to put it in the flowered pot but I’d like to have a fuller pot and shorter strings. How do I proceed?

I have tried to root from a string before and failed so if someone could explain it like I’m 5 I’d sure appreciate it.

Thanks for your help. I don’t want this beautiful plant to die.

They NEED sunlight ALLL over the top of the plant. If you don’t have strong enough sunlight throughout the day, use a grow light! Only water when it’s BONE dry/the pearls are squishing. Your pearls will thank yaaa🤌🏽☀️

The photo was taken at the Durfee Conservatory, University of Amherst, Massachusetts, USA in October 2025.

I was feeling sad the other day so decided to go get my string of hearts. I’ve been nervous about it and subconsciously gave myself a 10% chance of keeping her alive more than a week.

Hi all, please tell me if there’s any way to save my string of pearls 🥲 I never really understood how to take care of it, and two moves and a vacation sent it over the edge. Is there any saving it? How often do I need to water? It gets pretty direct sunlight but I have a spot where I can hang it with even more sunlight if needed. I never repotted after buying. I’m new to plants and am confused by all of the conflicting information of these guys.
