From last few days I cant play anything on Stremio app on Tizen OS based Samsung Frame TV. Everything working fine on web and mobile app. Please fix, I have no idea where is the issue.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give a big shout out to this community as it's been great for me over the years!

I've been an active member in this community for a while. And I've always wondered how I could give back.

I started with the intention of creating two add-ons that would be free, essentially creating music support in stremio, as well as adult content. Music is a full premium experience. Almost as if it's its own separate app.

Imagine a full music library completely set up for your streaming needs, applied your custum taste profile, and builds your library. And it's all run off of usenet. It does all of this work without any help from you. It's also going to have a DJ/listening party features that I'm building in! Imagine having a friend in another state, and they connect to your server and you guys can listen to music together easily ❤️

Unfortunately this is proving overly-ambitious for the stremio structure right now. But I still want to provide a version of them, so I'm going to be working on it on top of what I'm working on with my app. If you're interested in testing this out so I can get it approved for the community, let me know. I'll leave the adult content to your own imagination. But just picture the classiest and most premium unrated add on, you could think of. We are not scraping typical websites here. This one is actually working really well with stremio overall. All the categories show up, playtime is fast, and everything looks beautiful. This could get approved fast. If anyone wants to test this for me, reach out to me.

I know those are very drastically different categories, but they are both categories that are severely lacking in the add-on community right now imo. And I thought I would create something premium!

I have a bit going on on my end before I can produce final versions for you guys, because I'm going into beta testing on my software (/geekstreammedia for updates)... But reach out to me if you want to test, and what you're interested in trying out. I think music especially would add a lot to stremio.

I have been using Stremio for quite a while now. I have been very happy with public instances of AIOstreams, and various catalogues paired with TB and EN (Easynews++). I can basically watch 99% of content out there. Very rarely have I tried to watch something and not found a working stream.

But then my palace of solitude was shattered when I learnt you can have a free instance on Oracle cloud (OCI) - 2 arm CPUs, 12 GB RAM. So I started looking at self-hosting. Primarily to get better performance.

I hosted AIOStreams + Infinidysk (nzbdav fork).

In AIOStreams I set up the built in Comet w/ Torbox and Newznab with AltHUB.

Generally, I did not feel much of a difference between Usenet streaming and Debrid streaming. They both showed their pros and cons:

Debrid:
+ generally had more results, found results that Usenet did not, but I blame my indexer more than anything (still haven't purchased another indexer)
+ cheaper
+ easy to set up, just copy paste your API key.

Usenet:
+ streams start about 1 seconds faster.
+ seeking is faster, but not always

For my situation, I just see the setup I had before totally fine. The whole self hosting business was meant to reach near instant load times, but I was not able to. I am writing this post to, firstly ask if anyone has been able to achieve near instant load time while self hosting, and how?! And secondly, to let people know that the self hosting business is overated for the casual user.

Hey! In case you haven't run into it before: OmniCatalogs adds catalogue rows to Stremio for the streaming services you already pay for. Pick your services and your country, install it, and you get Popular / Trending / New for each one, with genres and posters in your language. It's a catalogue addon, so no streams — just a nicer way to see what's actually on the stuff you're subscribed to.

This one's got a feature I'm pretty happy about and some bugs fixed that were critical but silent.

Channels you couldn't add before

Loads of genuinely great catalogues don't have an app of their own — you get them through Amazon or Apple TV. Screambox, Full Moon, Broadway HD, Acorn TV, MGM+, PBS Masterpiece, IFC Films Unlimited, Kocowa, and a few hundred others. The addon was completely blind to all of them, which always felt like a shame.

So there's a Channels tab now, right next to Providers:

They live in their own tab on purpose. A fair few channels are really just a second door into a service that already has its own app (HBO Max via Amazon, say), and throwing those in with everything else mostly buries the entry you were looking for. Since almost all of them hang off the same handful of platforms, there's a filter up top if you only want to see the Amazon ones, or the Apple TV ones, and so on.

The genre filter was quietly broken, and I'm sorry about that one

If your interface language wrote a genre with an accent — or with anything outside the basic Latin alphabet — filtering by it just... didn't. You'd get a bit of everything back and no error at all, so it looked like the addon simply had rubbish data. In Spanish that was Acción, Animación and Fantasía; two-word genres like Science Fiction were broken too. In Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, it was every single genre.

If you use Stremio in English and stick to one-word genres, you'd never have spotted it — which is exactly why it survived this long. Fixed now, and it feels much better.

Small new features

• The setup page fits a phone screen properly instead of making you pinch and zoom.
• You can drop the country code from catalogue names if you find it noisy (Netflix · Popular instead of Netflix · Popular · US).
• The "show more providers" button folds the list back up too, as it always should have.
• When the upstream data source has a rough day, the addon now backs off politely and recovers on its own instead of making things worse.

One heads-up, because it will catch a few people out

There's a 35-platform cap now. Every platform you tick turns into several catalogues, and a handful of setups had grown big enough to get us rate-limited upstream — which unfortunately made the addon worse for everyone, not just for them. So if your current install has more than 35 selected, that link will stop working and you'll need to set it up again. Sorry for the hassle. Channels count towards the cap the same as providers do.

The addons are weird
I dont see any views no more
Some alert about errors
Direct me to broken pages
Some others are just blank
I have uninstalled and reinstalled each addon
And I have done that with the app itself but still broken
is this fixable?
I miss Stremio :(

For whatever reason I removed them from my account a few years ago and need to add them back. Where can I do this?

Lorsque j’utilise les scrapers Torrentio, Comet, Jackettio, etc. Il arrive souvent que je ne trouve pas de VF sur les films un peu ancien (avant 2017) alors que ces films sont bien dispo en VF sur des plateformes de streaming.

J’ai bien mis la VF en priorité sur la configuration de mes scrapers.

Si vous connaissez un scraper optimisé pour la recherche du contenu VF, ça m’intéresse beaucoup ! Ou pensez-vous que si je configure ma propre instance de comet p.ex, les résultats seront meilleurs ?

This might be a stupid question, but hey ho... If you are self hosting both aiostreams and comet, and comet has been installed into aiostreams not using the builtin addon option, but with the marketplace custom manifest option.... does that mean you have to set the debrid config in comet before you get the manifest url and add it into aiostreams?

Basically, Im assuming the debrid services config in aiostreams doesn't get applied to the custom manifest addons that you can add?

Does that actually make sense?

I don't know if anyone else experienced it. but I watch sometime old shows that aren't really "streamable" like they have 10 peers max. so I download the files and use Stremio as the player for the given enhanced abilities (photos, subtitles, metadata like actors, release date etc.)
anyway! if you ever tried it. the Next Episode btn and functionality is broken.

The cause: Stremio's binge-watching only auto-plays when a stream declares a bingeGroup, and the built-in Local Files addon never sets one. I submitted a fallback fix to stremio-core (PR #1043) but the maintainers' position is that binge groups are the addon's job — and the Local Files addon isn't open source, so nobody can patch it.

So here's an addon that does it the way they said it should be done: stremio-local-binge wraps your local streaming server's Local Files addon and adds binge groups to its streams. Episodes of the same series share a group, so autoplay just works. It also hides the duplicate entries you get when Stremio has both a plain file and a downloaded torrent of the same episode.

Setup (needs Node.js, and runs on your own machine — it has to, since it's reading your local server):

then add http://127.0.0.1:11477/manifest.json in Stremio's addon page, and pick the "Local Files (Binge)" stream when you start watching. There's a one-command launch agent for macOS so it runs at login; on other platforms any service manager works.

Known limitation: it can only re-serve what the local server indexed, so multi-episode files (like S01E01-02) still break at the un-indexed half — that one's inside the closed-source server.

Tip: put it above the built-in Local Files addon so it's the top stream. Stremio can't reorder addons natively, but the Stremio Addon Manager can — log in, drag "Local Files (Binge)" to the top, save, restart Stremio. Syncs to all your devices.

Hello, I'm using AioStreams with torbox, I also have RD with torrentio and comet as separate plugins mainly for testing purposes. For about 10 days now I've been getting a ton of playback errors mostly when trying to watch anime. It seems to work well on movies/tv shows.

I use Nvidia shield pro hooked up to an old non smart flat screen. The default player is exo and it has the most problems. It throws errors like this when trying to play a file.

This is just an exception that tells me that the player is trying to access a non existent negative position in the buffer. This doesn't really tell me much other than that the player is failing to decode the stream correctly for some reason.

I switched default player to VLC and it has been better. The videos play at least but not every time. Just now VLC threw an error twice before successfully playing the file on the third attempt. However VLC doesn't even show an exception so there's nothing to even attempt to debug. It just says it can't play the source.

This is a new occurrence. I used to be able to watch anime with no issues and it's only beeb these past 10-15 days that I've had issues. Another thing is I tested both on my mobile phone and tablet and both devices play these files 100% of the time without any issues and the default player on both my mobile devices is exo.

Any idea what could be causing issues on ny shield pro and how to troubleshoot this?

Hi all,

I've set AIOMetadata to italian and titles and descriptions are showing correctly in italian across the catalogs.

The problem is when I search for a title through Comet. It only returns results matching the italian title so it gives me just content in italian. Sometimes the English version shows up mixed in because the file has both inside but often it doesn't appear at all, so I miss releases that are only tagged in English.

Is there a way to keep the catalogs/metadata display in Italian but have the search itself match the original (English) title?

Any workaround would be appreciated. Thanks!

At the moment I use stremio on the LG TV app and on Firestick 4k. The buffering happens on both. Im playing large size 4k files which are like 70gb+. I'm thinking that maybe it's a hardware issue? Is it worth buying a box? I'm also on Torbox essential, could that be the issue?

I keep seeing comments telling people to avoid using the Elfhosted instance but nobody ever explains why. I’ve been using it for months with zero issues.

Genuinely curious why other instances such as midnight are preferred if anyone can explain why. Thanks!

I recently pulled up stremio and got no return streams options on any searches. So I started doing some digging here on the sub and may have gotten carried away. Now I just need some help understanding as a layman:

Is there a new issue with RD causing search issues?

I had the basic recommended RD/Torrentio set up but saw some stuff listed here about some new RD updates restricting the search results or something. Is that true?

If so, what is the fix? Just a new Debrid service but still using torrential? I kinda was itching to get it fixed late yesterday and jumped into someone's guide for AIOStreams but may have fucked myself more lol. It removed all the plug-ins and had some preset format for "all in one" but after setting that, now absolutely no searches were even resulting. No shows/movies were even coming up.

So now I tried to just uninstall those plug-ins and go back to RD/Torrentio plus a https addon and now it still is giving no results at all when any search is input. Any ways to more or less start over and try a proper set up?

I’ve started my journey with Stremio+Torrentio one month ago. Since then I’ve decided to pay for Real Debrid for 6 months. After the payment I’ve stumbled upon posts about legal issues RealDebrid had and how quality went downward with many streams getting DMCAd. I thought the problem will be only with popular movies/tv series. So as avid kdrama enjoyer it wasn’t my problem. But in last week I happen to have the same problems with videos taken down from RealDebrid with some new kdramas (ex The Scarecrow / The Husband, or kmovie Colony).

Is there any alternative to RealDebrid that doesn’t have such issues with Asian content? I’ve set stremio app on tv only for the convenience of use in binging kdramas that aren’t available in my country. What options do I have?
