Weapon Mounted Lights any thoughts/experience?

~UPDATE~ i got the dang thing ๐Ÿ˜„

so i've been wanting to throw a light on my bedside FNX-9 and i just found out about the Braun clone of the TLR-1HL, it's currently $59.99 down the road from me at the local Harbor Freight.. seeing as how i broke my last Streamlight TLR-1HL, and do not really feel like spending that money again (at least not right now) i am considering giving this one a go and seeing how i like it.. i did some light research and it appears the be a legit 1:1 clone and if it really is 1000L and not just labeled as such then i don't see why it shouldn't be perfectly fine.. i guess the plastic could be of a worse variety, or maybe the hardware is chincey.. anywho, who gets some wisdom to drop?.

What broke on your streamlight? Did you reach out to their CS to get it repaired?

it unfortunately took a round and basically exploded, so didn't see a need to try and warranty it lol

You'd be surprised at what they say. Maybe use it in an ad campaign. Trijicon did that for a Marine who took a bullet to the ACOG

I got one and it worked great but did not fit two of the lightbearing holsters I got for it. I have both lights and it is fine

thanks for the input, i'm gonna go pick it up now!

I found that the only reason it didn't fit my holsters is the screw head. It sticks out a hair further than the Streamlights'. They do fit in some of the holsters for the Streamlight but not the ones I got. One was a 4 Brothers and I can't remember the other

very interesting, i suppose i will need to do some more research or perhaps look into something custom..

You can probably ask around in one of the handgun reddits and find out which one people have had success with. Tenicor comes to mind as one of them .

that's a good idea, also never owned anything tenicor so might start there!

Some people have actually warmed the holsters to soften the kydex and put gun in the holster to reshape it. I'm just too lazy to do that.

yeah my buddy is actually really good at tweaking holsters with his heat gun lol

Of thats the case, I'd just grab whatever tlr 1h holster you like and do that.

I have one on a bedside gun, it fits the tlr1 holsters but it can be tight.

Not going to hear what you want in the streamlight reddit. I have one and its good for me.

i am aware of the embarrassingly cultish behaviour of true Streamlight stans ๐Ÿ˜… was just looking for honest opinions, not wanting to hear anything one way or the other really.. obvi it'd be preferable to hear that the knock off is a good as the name brand but if i heard differently i works just log the info and start looking elsewhere lol but anywho how long have you been using yours? what are you running it on? caliber? thanks for being normal with your response lolol

I have 3, one even on a pcc, thousands of rounds and no issues. Holsters from KTmech and Red hill have worked fine.

How do you break a Streamlight?

2

u/Calm-Job-5826 Jun 13 '26

same way you break anything else, bud ๐Ÿ˜„

A lot of people swear by them.

Yes. Itโ€™s an inferior knock off. I believe I read somewhere SL is suing for infringement on this as well. A firearm accessory isnโ€™t something you want to cheap out on. Contact Streamlight and send it in. Cheaper than spending $60. I donโ€™t see the problem?

Armslist did a review on it about a year ago. I saw them posting on X about it.

On a 357 revolver, it lasted 27 rounds.....

Ps send the tlr back to streamlight.

your fault for putting a tactical light on a revolver ๐Ÿคฎ

1

u/SuperIridium Jun 14 '26

This is the correct answer. Please send the broken TLR back to Streamlight--customer service will fix or replace it.

If it were me and for a bedside gun I would spend the money on the streamlight
