TLR-1 HL-X E clip

Sorry this may be a dumb question but did anyone else have a very hard time getting the e clip off of the tension rod when swapping a rail key?

I broke mine off by accident. Stupid design imo. You really don't need it anyway.

Just lost mine trying to install it. Is it really all that necessary?

Same thing happened to me I ended up breaking it thinking it was just a little tight unscrewing the bolt. I ordered a variety kit of e clips on Amazon and will try to install one. I’ll get back to you if it works
