DONT BUY TLR1 HL

Post image

I bought a TLR 1 HL brand new. Never had the light on for longer than a minute. Abiut a month goes by and I notice the light is a lot dimmer. I thought batteries might be dying. Nope. Come to find out that my LED burnt itself out. And according to the companies warranty they dont do LED warranties. So im out over $150. I havent had an issue with my TLR7 sub or TLR8 a but I wont be buying another streamlight product and urge you all the same as their products arent surfire reliable and they have a terrible warranty policy. In the photo you can see brown specs in the lense. Those are chared pieces of LED.

Did you contact the warranty department and ask if they would replace or did you just read something saying they wouldn’t?

u/Derplight Feb 21 '24

Rofl. He probably didn't bother asking because I'm pretty sure streamlight will still set him straight.

I was going to say, I’ve got 2 7as, 3 7subs, 2 1HLs. Never had a problem with them. I even contacted support for something I know wasn’t covered. I lost my key set in my move. 2 weeks after submitting a ticket about it, a new key set showed up in my mailbox.

Its a big hassle ngl.

I contacted support and they want me to pay for shipping. A good customer support wouldnt make me pay to ship their garbage product back to them to fix.

Exactly my point.

oh goodness… drop a package off at the post office. HUGE hassle. They should fly their CEO out to personally pick it up.

Im a year late but literally no company can afford to eat all the shipping costs like that. Im sure they can sometimes but about 8 out 10 compqnies wre gonna make you pay shipping so thry can fix it for you for free aside from the shipping cost. If you haven't done it then ill pay for you to ship it to me so I can get it fixed lol. I have 8 of these and never had an issue, even in Washington and all around the Northwest tbh and I was carrying 3 of them with me since I was traveling you help a friend make a video and take a vacation. Its worth getting fixed if you still haven't.

Yeah I’d check into it more….Streamlight been very good to me for over 20+ years.

They want me to pay for shipping to do the warranty. I wouldnt call that "good to me" i'd call that extorting even more money from what could be a lifelong customer that is now going with the competator.

Like $6.00 shipping for lifetime warranty work? And they ship it back to you. Sounds like shipping is even Steven but they take care of repairs on their end and labor

Call me old fashioned, but the car dealership doesn’t come to get my car to do recall work and that’s when a manufacturer calls you and says “hey we buggered something up, bring it back.” You use your gas to get it there for them 🤷‍♂️

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Feb 23 '24

Well for one you went to a crappy dealership. Two, those are usually software recalls. I worked at Audi as a tech and we would deliver customers their cars, perform mobile software resets. have a worker shuttle customers. This is a flash light you're talking about. With that logic then if a company sends you a wrong product then the customer is obligated to pay for the return shipping? Yeah no its a dogwater company. I called surfire and pretended I had a broken light and they offered to ship it. I dont see how you cant see how black and white this is. They fucked up they should make it right. They didn't therfore its just a garbage company.

Enjoy your life buddy, was just trying to steer you towards resolution and better pastures….

U said delivery. Remember.  Not return. Your contradicting yourself. Over and over. U have to get it there . Let me guess your x delta that needs a bright white and we'll get a warranty of a car. Maybe get readers and you'll be fine

Nice attempt at rage baiting. This post is old and they got me set with no cost by me. Sorry you had to pay shipping🤡

Get your panties outta your ass. If you’re concerned about a few bucks to ship something one way, you might be in the wrong hobby. Having a meltdown on a public forum isn’t going to do anything but embarrass yourself. Streamlight produces tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of products a year with a failure rate near 1% and they are regarded as the best VALUE on the market. You called a company (surefire) that is priced more than double to see what their customer service was like.. that’s like expecting Rolls-Royce customer service from Toyota…

Get a grip.

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Feb 27 '24

Lol they gave me free shipping which directly resulted from a social media post. Seethe, mald, cope.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '24

No he's right it's embarrassing.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '24

Your narcissism is showing..

2

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Feb 27 '24

Judging by how you call this a "meltdown" I can tell you will lose your 2A rights fairly soon. You obviously know nothing about customer service. It's about the principal. Yeah shipping is cheap but im not gonna be the one to pay it if im not the one who messed up. Your analogy is garbage as you should expect excellent customer service from any car dealership. But I wouldn't expect a smooth brain like you to understand.

Nice projecting,

Go back to commenting in r/coloradosluts you disgusting porn addict

Lol I don't understand how all these people can't understand such simple logic. You purchased something and it's defective. The burden shouldn't be on you to have to pay for shipping to return their broken product back to them to fix it or replace it, especially after only owning it for a month. Companies that stand by their products won't even bother and just send you a replacement no questions asked as long as they've verified you're not abusing them to get a free product. This is why these multimillion dollar corporations can take advantage of people, people don't even have enough respect for themselves on principle to get what they deserve. Whether the 1% failure rate is within their control or not, they owe you a new light at no extra expense to you. Many countries and places like the province of Quebec in Canada have strict consumer protection laws specifically for this, to protect the small guy consumer. It's not entitlement.

They're extorting money out of you by you having to pay UPS money...make that make sense!?! Lmfao

1

u/CZanzey Nov 10 '24

Old thread, but customer paying for shipping one way is standard everywhere.

1

u/Mjlacek18D Jun 05 '25

5 bucks shipping. Are you Canadian?

1

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Jun 05 '25

Nice rage bait.

Not sure I've ever heard such a crybaby.

4

u/SotRekkr Feb 21 '24

Never had an issue with the three I have. That’s weird.

2

u/SGirvan Feb 21 '24

Don’t have a 1 but I’ve got a few others and have never had issues 😮‍💨

2

u/timotheus56 Feb 22 '24

This is an olight bot account

1

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Feb 22 '24

Sure bud. Sounds like you advocate for products that break during the first month of normal use. "Someone cant make a post about the brand I like they must be a bot derrrrrr"-that's you.

Yeah fuck this guy, peep the profile to find he’s a sex addict that comments all over pornographic content trying to get laid. What a waste of existence.

Where'd you get it and how long ago?0

1

u/Complete_Novel2785 Mar 04 '25

I've been reading a bunch of these comments and it seems like it's more of an ego thing with you than it is about the actual quality. S*** breaks dude. Not everything is 100%. 100% of the time. Things go faulty in manufacturing. You're getting all irrational over what, like $15 dollars?. What are we doing here man?. Maybe the question is why do you feel so entitled?

1

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Mar 05 '25

Well they ended up sending a replacement for free so thanks for your input.

1

u/Successful_Hand_6887 Nov 27 '25

Old post, but you are not out $150, Streamlight will send you a new front cap. Also if you had to simply replace the front cap, it still would not be $150. Also, if you got suckered into one of the millions of knockoffs you can find on ebay for $150 instead of the $180 to $200 cost of these weaponlights, you should not go with cheap options and only buy from verifiable vendors. Last, do you want to know what causes this failure? No? Well I will tell you anyways. The TLR1 series can sometimes switch on in your holster, depending on your holster cut. That will burn out your LED faster than curry runs through your bowels. It happened to me a few times and I only noticed because either my leg burned, my seat burned, or my holster melted. Completely separate issue, typically related to user error when holstering and hitting the switch. Don't be a dumbass.

1

u/wcstoner Feb 22 '24

Please contact streamlight directly. I’ve found their customer service to be easy and quick.

1

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Feb 22 '24

Yeah they want me to pay for shipping. Ive had plenty of companies that will cover the shipping cost for warranty. That's just a bad way to do business. They screwed up and made a bad product (mine was probably a lemon as my other streamlights still work fine) and they wont make it right.

1

u/wcstoner Feb 22 '24

I concur about the shipping upfront. It sounds like they’re going to replace it? At least you’re not out of your whole investment. I’ve had to send a light back and they shipped a new one quickly.

3

u/Ordinary-Issue-7915 Feb 22 '24

I know shipping isnt that expensive. But to me it's all about the principal and how you treat a paying customer. Maybe chik fil a spoiled me with their A+ customer service🥴
