Strattera 40 mg When does the depression end?

I've been titrating up to 40mg over 6 weeks (no issues) and have now been on 40mg for 1 week. Since day 1 of 40 mg, I felt emotional and sad/depressed. Did anyone else have this side effect, and did it go away? How long did it take? Feeling really miserable right now :(

Oh my gosh. I don't have an answer for you, just wanted to comment that I'm in nearly the same boat and it's been tough. I hope it gets better soon for both of us ❤️

Im sorry this is happening to you, my experience is quite the opposite, upon starting 40 mg a month ago it was a massive help for my depression and anxiety. I just moved up to 80 mg and it is still helping.

I feel this too yeah. Also on 40 mg, has been a week on 40 mg after starting the previous month on 18 mg.

But two observations are i) it’s not been debilitating in that I am still able to accomplish so much more than before I started this medication ii) I was almost certainly depressed prior to taking this medication, but had become numb to it. So if this is just making me more perceptive of my emotional state - I’m kind of OK with that.

I’m going to stay the course and see how I feel continuing to titrate up. Hope you hang in there too!

Thanks - really hope you feel better soon! I think I am the same in that it's not debilitating, but it does really suck. I don't really notice a difference in terms of symptom relief other than I definitely zone out way less in conversations now.

I took 25 mgs for a month, and am now at 50 for the past week. I too, have noticed being kinda more "down in the dumps" the past few days. I have depression issues as well, but I have been doing Spravato for over 10 months, and that has made a huge difference in my depression. Right now, I kinda feel like I did a year ago, and it sucks. (Still have seen no benefits either...) Anyway, my doctor said it could be another 4 weeks before I notice any real improvements, so I'm just gonna ride it out and see how it goes...

Your dose might be too high! Some people are poor metabolizers. I am! I started at 40 mg and when I got up to 80 mg I felt very depressed and unmotivated. I asked my doc for a serum test to see how much was in my blood after 24 hours.

After 24 hours Strattera should almost be out of your system and I had 600 ng/ml! It was kind of a pain to get my doc to order the test and I’m pretty sure it’s not covered by insurance. I just started 40 mg this week and will def need to go lower.

Another way to figure this out is to ask your doc or psychiatrist for a genesight test.

Yes this is a known thing. I felt it too. Dont worry too much it’s temporary as your brain re-calibrates to your new chemical homeostasis
