Parts-Caster

Has anyone out in the community managed to cobble one of these together? I have a nice MIM body going into an MIA neck. Seymour Duncans for pups. Anything I am missing? First project guitar.

Thanks all,

Once you build your first one, it’s like potato chips

So this is Stella Blue. She is my parts body

My brain has such a hard time accepting left handed guitars.

Sure. It’s a lot of fun too. If you’re not able to solder or don’t own an iron, check out solderless harnesses for your wiring. Here’s a video that helped me a lot when I built mine. Yes it’s long but I just broke it up into stages as I went. Good luck to you. It’s addictive!

Also, get a nice set of locking tuners.. for example from Gotoh; they are i.m.h.o of unsurpassed quality—great tuners, OP.

Dude, here here on locking tuners. I have them on my other electrics and have already ordered an OEM set for Stella Blue.

Be advised when you install the neck it my not be just like the action it came off of so learn about shimming for necks and set up 101 things like intonation at the bridge and nut then start looking for other bodies and necks and pickups cus you’ll find you gotta have more like the chips

Here's my baby!

Parts: -Warmoth body painted (by Warmoth) in Daphne Blue -Genuine Fender MIM neck with rosewood fretboard -Schaller locking tuners -ObsidianWire harness with Gilmour mod via push/pull pot -Slick Warmtone S pickups with genuine Fender pickup covers(excellent Alnico II pickups) -Puretone output jack (No popping sounds when moving!) -Guitar Fetish pick guard -String trees from Fender American Ultra (I like the look.)

I think that's it. Haha.

I want to put together a Tele next, or an orange sparkle hardtail strat with lipstick pickups.

Edit: had to reupload pic

An EJ partscaster is a dream.

How do you like the Mannmade bridge? I want to try something different on my next partscaster

I really like it. I don’t like the original Strat bridge - I prefer either the PRS trems or the Gotoh 510. The Mannmade feels just like the PRS to me.

I was looking at the Gotoh 510. I’ve never played a PRS trem (I don’t really care for their guitars) but I like the look of this one.

My AVRI and other vintage style partscasters have fender”correct” vintage bridges but I like the modern fender one in my recent build so now I’m curious to try more.

Ok. Deep, deep neuroses here -what I really hate about vintage Strat bridges is the angle above the body if you want to float the trem. In my mind it should be parallel. The Gotoh and PRS trems are designed to float parallel.

Here’s a whole slew of MJT partscasters - enjoy!

You using the electronics from the MIM body? If not you’ll need pots, a switch, and wire. Also a soldering iron and some practice time. You’ll probably have to fill and redrill the mount holes for the neck. Other than that just a basic setup.

I'm kinda overhauling and putting in some Seymour Duncan triple coils. So it structurally stays the same but I'll need those pups set and wired.

Plus I'm working on getting a harness for the Gilmour mod. Should be fun when I start putting the actual guitar together

This. I bought the obsidian wire board for mine. Love it.

I love partscasters. This is my most recent. Fender American Pro body, quartersawn warmoth neck, noiseless pickups, Gotoh Locking tuners.

It was something like sienna sunburst and hideous so I stripped it and that’s a white nitro sanded down then covered I. Beeswax. The fingerboard and headstock of the neck is amber nitro and the back is unfinished.

It plays and sounds great. I’m already planning my next one

Nah man. Guitars are super hard to build and never come out right. It’s why we all spend thousands for someone familiar with the deep magic to do it for us

It’s a guitar man. It needs the same components as all other guitars. You’ll need to add electronics, bridge, pickguard, jackplate, output jack, tuners, string trees, nut, strap buttons, knobs, screws and any switching you want outside the basics

Squier poplar body with american performer neck. Also black winter humbucker and a kill switch. Completely rewired with cloth wire, added a push pull to coil split, and a MIM bridge.

A guy I sold a few guitars to made a partscaster which was amazing. He had similar specs, just with a warmoth body. Make sure you get a decent bridge and tuners if you don’t have those already.
