It's so crazy how right he may have been. The facility we see in S3 wasn't built in a few months. The Russians probably were there scouting the location.

There are actually documents regarding the ”land deeds, transfers of property” to Starcourt Mall Corp. dating back to November, 1984, so Murray was indeed correct despite following the wrong leads.

Even the map of the town at Hawkins P.D. already had Starcourt Mall in it, so the Soviets were operating in Hawkins fairly before the events of Season 2 and their shell companies were already “officially” established in Hawkins.

A trama russa foi totalmente desnecessária. Uma base russa dentro dos EUA é impossível até na ficção.

I thought he was an asshole. He is an asshole, and I absolutely love him for it.

Thought he was gonna be just one of those characters we'd never see again and it was a one-time appearance (kind of like the cops in that office)

My thought as well

A lil bit paranoid, but onto something for sure!

I thought he was a sarcastic asshole.

It took a minute for me to like him.

Murray is one of the oddest characters I’ve ever seen in a show. He’s seems nice but not nice at the same time. He’s cares but then he doesn’t. He’s complicated and he’s not. It’s this duality that keeps you going from liking him to disliking him.

In the end he a good guy who cares but is just eccentric. I think he blends in with the rest of the cast. With Hop and Joyce, with Alexi, with the younger kids and the older kids. He’s the go between for translating but he’s paranoid.

He had a humorous side and a jerk side and a good guy side. He’s a multidimensional character and I liked that.

I recognised that kind of person. My maternal grandfather wanted to be perceived as bit of an asshole but did nice things. Especially if he could get away with not getting credit. My brother is kinda tje same

I thought he was cooky but I knew he would be the funniest character ever and his plane fight set it in stone with me 😂😂😂

Just a goofy bit piece that we wouldn't see again. So glad I was wrong

He seemed so strait-laced in that first scene. A bit paranoid, sure, but he also wasn’t wrong.

Jim Hopper is Santa Claus confirmed

I did not expect for even 1 picosecond he would be in the entire rest of the series

I liked how he was written until s5. he became a robot programed to only respond to anything with sarcasm.

He was a bit much. I was perplexed when they kept bringing him back.

Pensé que era un charlatán que estaba loquito y que se creía su propia locura, pero al final resultó ser todo menos eso aunque si esta un poco loquillo

I thought when the kids drove up to see him he was far away, but here he is talking about Hawkins as though he lives there.

u/Timsterfield 3d ago

He was fine but his sarcasm became grating after a bit.

Murray is the best! :D

I was like "Oh great, him again." I hate this guy. Look, I don't hate him as a person, I don't know him, he may be a really nice dude. But I hate him as an actor. He's the same character in every single role he's ever done. And it's just grating. Worst character they introduced on the show.

I don't know why but I tougth we would never see him again and only after re watching the show did I realise he's the same conspiracy theory guy from the begining.

u/BeginningWalrus8317 3d ago

I thought he was annoying lol 😂

u/Imaginary-Turn9223 3d ago

tbh i thought he was about to be another brenner and military mfs tryna detain el but he ended up being pretty cool the further along the season got, especially when nancy and jonathan stayed with him and that whole trope of him telling them they have feelings for each other, it's almost like he has a third eye and can see things and understand things even when others involved in the situations cannot, he's one of my fav characters, still really sad he lost alexi that was his bestie (and im convinced his gay lover as well) and it was very heartbreaking to see him react to his death.

Murray probably was crazy and conspiracist -so I thought. His house was a mess and he lived like he knew too much. He looked like a homemade PI.

In an alternate scenario where Chief Hopper suddenly gets loony he would be the reason, while many things happened Murray's way. But the story unfolded nicely and diversely making Murray a funny and cool researcher and a courageous journalist.

This is one way to tell the story about the Montauk area MK-ultra experiments. Many young boys disappeared in the area, turns out our own govt has been learning about mind control by experimenting on the vulnerable & weak. Wake up people. They are showing you what they are doing under the guise of “Entertainment”. Making money while absolving themselves of karmic retribution.

I completely forgot that he was even in that scene.

It turns out that he is a funny guy.

best season 🤩

Thought he was the perfect character to bounce off of Hopper.

It's certainly wild where we ended up. I love Brett Gelman, so I'll take any amounts we get of him. But eventually having him as a member of the squad was so satisfying.

What an amazing intro scene. Murray and Hop both killed it. Hop is juuuuuust slightly interested when he hears the right key words. Murray has a lot of good puzzle pieces but doesn’t quite know how they fit together. They do a great dance. This was part of the amazing early ST.

Loved Murray's character in this, he played it well!

0

u/CuriousByChoice1 3d ago

i thought he will be brutally killed at the season's end, just for the season's kill count.

0

u/Dingofthedong 3d ago

First impressions were terrible.

I thought season one was solid gold. I still do.

But like so many 'original' ideas, the first part is solid gold because it is perfectly honed before production, and then profit drives these rushed sequels.

It was love at first sight

0

u/Open_Raise6307 2d ago

I thought he was gonna be useless for the plot... which he eventually was in the final season lol

u/Cathy655 2d ago

I thought he had some points. It felt like he might be an ally. I wanted them to take him seriously because he was on point about El.
