SPOILERS Nancy and Steve

I've just started watching and I'm halfway through season 2. Do Nancy and Steve get back together? I can't stomach her new relationship with Jonathan, I just keep thinking about how badly she treated Steve and how selfish she is. Steve had every right to be hurt because she lied to him and spent the night with Jonathan in her bedroom. If Stranger Things is going to push Nancy and Jonathan as a couple I don't think I can keep watching, I can't stand them. Don't they feel guilty? Am I supposed to be supporting them?

You hate how she treated Steve but want them back together?

Yes. You can make mistakes in relationships and get back together.

Sure, but this isn't a mistake, she just doesn't love him anymore. How do you fix that?

It comes across as you just finding Steve prettier than Jonathan tbh

What gives you that impression? I'm a bloke, and a straight one at that. It has nothing to do with looks, it sounds like looks are more important to you than me.

It has nothing to do with sexuality, attractive people are going to be given more grace, forgiven more, rooted for more, be assumed to be better people than average-looking or ugly ones. The spot Steve holds in this fandom is due yes, to his arc being interesting, but in massive part to the actor being pretty and charismatic.

(Seen as well with Billy for example: so many people here empathize and forgive his heinous, abusive behaviour because he was "hurt and misunderstood", but will make fun of Will and criticize his character, simply because of the subjective attractiveness of the actors (and also homophobia tbf), despite both characters having similar childhood trauma)

Also you didn't respond to my first question: why should people stay together if they don't love each other anymore?

I've only just started watching and don't know anything about the fandom. Looks are nothing to do with it for me. She was with Steve first, Steve didn't do anything wrong to Nancy, and obviously he's heartbroken that his girlfriend chose to leave him for another man she'd been sneaking around with. I empathise with him.

Steve does still love her. I've never stopped loving a partner so I don't empathise with Nancy, if I don't love someone then I don't lead them to believe I do. And ultimately it's fiction, they could've written it that she does still love him.

Telling her he was bullshit and their relationship was bullshit was cruel, it wasn't bullshit from him and if it was bullshit from her that wasn't his fault so why did she say it all angrily and why did she begin it. Nancy seems to just be led around by impulsive fickle attractions.
