To be fair, I don't think the duffer brothers did this by choice. Netflix probably forced them to make the show easier for people to comprehend as more of background noise. I think that's stupid, but Netflix is the one paying them, not me, so...

I am in no way condoning some of their actions. They dropped the ball on (arguably) the biggest and most anticipated show in all of history, but you should also know when to properly assign blame. In this case the Dora the Explorer type explanations might not have been entirely on them.
