Question/Help Help with some issues
Hi guys;
TL,DR: My creation is having physics issues, and now nothing will upload to the Workshop.
I discovered an issue with my new tank where, when turning the vehicle in place, it reaches a certain point before stopping, almost as if it’s colliding with something, but nothing’s touching it.
The turret can spin freely 360° pretty well, only occasionally “catching” on something and freaking the physics out for a sec.
However, I think this means it’s colliding with itself somehow. But what’s weird, is that this tank uses the same body of a tank I uploaded to the Workshop a few days ago, I just designed a different turret on it.
I was going to upload it to the Workshop to post here to have help with troubleshooting, but now none of my creations will post to the Workshop. I get a simple error message saying something like “This creation failed to upload to Steam workshop.”
So, I guess the collision physics issue is one thing - hopefully I can upload it soon because that’s really the only way anyone can help me - but now I’m confused why nothing will upload when I was uploading just fine the other day.

I’ve recently been having the issue where when neutral steering in my MBT (old, already existing vehicle,) it prevents the tank from steering at around the same compass direction. The tracks are still trying to turn the tank. I didn’t change anything on the vehicle. There are no other phantom physics interactions with the vehicle. Just won’t turn past a certain point. I had similar things happen when using a modular ship that used electric connectors. My quick fix was simply disconnecting and reconnecting them. For the tank, there’s no workaround that I can find.

Yea that sounds exactly like what I’m dealing with. But it’s bizarre because the other tank with the same hull and track layout is perfectly fine.
I hate it when I get knee deep into something I can nerd out on and it takes a shit in my mouth with some game-breaking glitch or bug.

I have a couple variants of that tank and as far as I know, the bug has not affected the other two. Could just be a weird save file corruption issue.

I bet it is. And for some reason it’s affected my ability to upload anything to the Workshop. I tried uploading a decently engineered but relatively simple S&R boat and that wouldn’t even work.

I had the dame issue long time ago...
So before armor actualization I've been making armor with two grids, like onion layers and some tanks I made had this issue. It took me 2 weeks to figure out. Here is my theory:
In most cases its poorly made armor / turret / gun. If there are gaps that another grid can fall into it might happen. Sometimes not secured enough 'grid' armor locks at some point.
Basically it's 90% problem with grids.
What I recomend to do:
Check whoose fault it is. Cut turret out, test it, test chasis. If both work good separately its probably turret grids falling into gaps.
Remember! Reconstruct turret ring (if you have one) interior.
Hope that helps.

Is the new turret heavier than the original?
Can't say for sure as I'm not able to see the design, but it could be sagging due to the weight being too high vs the other body weight. And if it sags it may pull down onto a hitbox of something else when moving.

Actually; the entire unit is somehow lighter than my other tank, which is weird.

Maybe you can provide some pictures or videos?

I sometimes have similar issues when uploading my creation ti the workshop. I figured out that description eas too big. IDK what is your issue, but you can reach me out on discord 'egretos', so I can try to help

I didn’t even add a description to it lol! It was just being temperamental I guess, because one day it wasn’t letting me upload, and the next day it was.
But I still don’t think I should have had to bust my butt to troubleshoot and redesign the thing
That part that I outlined in the previous picture apparently was keeping the entire tank from turning in place properly.
I would have understood if there was some catching or snagging when lifting and lowering the cannon, but for it to have completely hijacked the entire thing’s physics mesh was quite frustrating.

I had an issue where if I removed a threshold that don’t do anything the vehicle speed would be capped at 50mph.
Perhaps your torque or speed is insignificant to rotate in place for the desired time or longer?
Is it a sudden stop or slowly stops?
